Re: We've all seen Obertan play, do we still need another midfielder?

Creativity does not necessarily stem from getting a new player. It stems from letting our young players to improve and nurturing all the talents that they possess.

What we don't want is a gap between our main team with the reserves. They need to improve their vision of the game, experience, physique, techniques, and character. Getting a new player won't cause our young players to improve as much as giving them as many big games to play in and grow.

Obertan and Tosic could be the next Giggs in a couple of years, yet they already can hang with the best of them in the Premier League. Valencia and Park set the benchmark for our young players on the right wing. And we still have Giggs, Scholes, Carrick, Fletcher, and Hargreaves (who are all better than Cesc Fabregas and on par with Zidane, Kaka, Ronaldo, and Ronaldinho)  to show our young guns (Gibson, Ljajic, Anderson, Nani) how midfield should be dominated.

And if you look at our goal-scoring line-up, any opponent would tremble with fears: Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov, Michael Owen, Frederico Macheda, Dani Welbeck.

We have the right squad to win and dominate for years to come. To all of you who scream David Villa, I bet you are the same people who screamed Huntelaar not long ago.

I'd say a creative one would be fantastic. The reason is that all these kids are kids and they have potential. That's it. You can't put all this pressure on them because they may faulter. There are the occasional special few like Ronaldo, Rooney, Fat Ronaldo, Fabregas etc that can do it. But they are elite players.

Do we need another midfielder? I would say yes. I still think we need a world class midfielder, it's not apparent when we play Blackburn but would be against Chelsea and it was apparent against Arsenal even though we won. Although, even though he missed the chance to score I still see the promise in him, I think he might be a 3 million pound bargain, but he is a winger not a central midfielder.

Sure youre entitled to your opinion its just that your opinion is stupid

Obertan is a young very raw player.......who will take some time to become a good player let alone a Utd one, but he is at a club who will give him his chance..(there has been a lot of ctitisism on certain channels, ESPN .....being it was  Halloween said it was a total HORROR show from him, a bit unfair but at times he looked like his feet were on the wrong legs!!!)

To answer your question without a shadow of a doubt we need at least 2 World class players, a creative player and an out an out striker

our squad still looks solid and with players like Fletch/Giggs/Rooney they wont give up the title easily but we have lost the spark.............and lest we forget Ronnie is still the best player on the planet ...............

    carlos Santana:

Tosic looks a better prospect than both Nani and Obertan: he's neat quick, doesn't give the ball away and sees what's going on in a game. he's the best reserve player week in week out. Obertan needs a long spell in the reserves to settle down: he looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights when he came on yesterday and he played like one. Not his fault-he's young and needs the experience. Tosic is a full international and needs a chance to prove himself-takes great free kicks and corners-something we need when giggsy's not playing.

Having said that I'd get Silva-who is top quality and have Tosic as reserve to him, Obertan reserve to Valencia, get rid of Nani who is a Spurs or Middlesboro player through and through:just not good enough for us.Then play Hargo and Carrick as the main midfield pair pushing Carrick forward: Anderson and Fletch in reserve. Phase out Scholesy who sadly has become a bit of a liability of late. With Ljacic on the way we won't need anyone else in the midfield-just another top striker/a top central defender/and a top goalie!!

I agree with that but it should deffinatly be Anderson and Fletcher/ hargreaves in the midfield. Carrick is past his best and is too slow on the ball. He is having a terible season. Though I think Silva will come if a bid is accepted SAF might not play him straight away. He would put him on as a sub and see how he preforms. SAF is a very inteligent man and he will know what players he needs but we need a play maker. Every top team have them or more than 1. Liverpool = Gerard. Barca= xavi and iniesta. Real = kaka and Ronaldo. Milan = Pirlo. We need a top class player. I realy like the player Diego. He is brilliant. Would have Been a great player for united

i dont think we need anyone else, i think giggs will carry on playing until next season and by then obertan will take his place with tosic as cover. hargo and fletch our dm,  anderson needs to step up and dominate games by runing at defences and using his passing and getting himself in more dangerous positions. valencia on the right with nani as cover and ljajic im sure wih a bit of time to settle in will be good option for wings or cm when he comes in jan. scholes will prob retire after this year and park and carrick could/should be sold.

Re: We've all seen Obertan play, do we still need another midfielder?

There are a lot of mixed views on this topic. Some people would welcome Silva with open arms. Others would be annoyed because they think it will stop younger players from improving. I thought I would show both sides of the arguement and let you decide which one is the best. If Silva joins People are worried he will start every match and not give other players a chance. Silva can play in two main positions. CAM and LM. He is a quilaty player. Nani can play on both wings. So we have 3 wingers that are ready to play on the wings. Players like Tosic and Obertan will learn from him. He will be a brilliant influence. Obertan and Silva will still get chances in the FA Cup and Carling Cup. Aswell as that when we play lower opposition they will get opportunities. If he doesn't People will argue that we have 3 young wingers who need time to improve. Obertan and Tosic are not ready to play football week in and week out. They do not have enough experience. Give them a few years and they will be brilliant. But at the moment in time we are lacking in creativity. We have some of the best youngsters in the world but they need time and help. Silva could help them.

i doubt that any world beater will be brought in january, cannot see fergie reshuffling the pack with a top player half way through the season to be honest. its not really fergie style, as much as i would like it to happen, like every january the hype will build and build and we wont sign anyone substantial

Re: We've all seen Obertan play, do we still need another midfielder?

I dont think that we need another winger. if anything maybe another AM. Would love for Silva to come to united just as he can play as a second striker and AM and sometimes on the LW. would love for suraez to come to united add a bit more flair to us with no ronaldo. too much pressure on rooney to deliver as he is a player who works hardest when creating the play. Berba is starting to convince me that he has united in his heart and now with his wonder goal against blackburn i hope he reaches to a higher state. cant wait for hargo to come back. hopefully hargo and anderson make a strong partnership with carrick just beind them in the ranks. Scholes is a legend and fergie knows when to use him as well as giggs who playes like he is just 18 at times.

January transfer targets should imo be Silva, Suraez, and another keeper just because foster has his days and tomaz isnt united quality. Maybe buy back Luke Steele played a really good game against united midweek. Also need cover for central defence. Jonny evans is playing amazing footy and wes brown is like a rock in the absence of rio and vida but as wes has his days and neville past his best and rio all over the place we may need someone who has prem exp like shawcross or maybe some1 for the long term in jack rodwell. two main players that united need to invest in are silva and suraez maybe both for a combined fee of £80mill and a defender for about £6-£8mill. Then during the summer if foster doesnt prove to be the keeper his to be then another keeper and offload kucsak and foster and use amos and buy a second keeper like steele

love the two games obertan has played in and his contribution is really good. would love for him to establish himself as one of the best wingers in the near future.

players to get rid off are Nani for deffo as he hardly ever has a good game and now he is wasting his time at united. Maybe carrick and let gibson become more of a player as he is quality. let kiko go out on loan to a prem club as he does need to become a better player and more aware of where to be.

lets just hope some of these players do come to united in January

I think we do we need more creavity in our midfield someone to get us goals get the crowd on their feet like Ronaldo used to do and Silva is that player plus he can score goals aswell and the perfect long term replacement for when Giggs retires.

Obertan and Tosic are good but they are only very young we carnt relie on them just yet but they are good prospects.

Re: We've all seen Obertan play, do we still need another midfielder?

From the performance of Obertan, I don't think we need another winger. The most important position is central midfielder, we need to guy like Lampard or Gerrard. It was to be Scholes but no more, he doesn't have the leg to push forward anymore. Anderson is a player that I hope to fulfill this roles, he is a Brazilian who supposed to have a good shot and technically abilities but so far, he has not score much at all. I hope Hargreaves recover so that Anderson can to given full license to roam in this roles. So far, he seem to have to share the responsibilties in breaking up attack.

Once Hargreaves recovers, I would like Anderson given full license to attack. If is doesn't work out, my last hope will be Ljalic (little Kaka) but it will be too soon and early for a young boy. When January comes with or without new players, we will still finish top 4. After winning 3 League title, it is still good for us to re-build for the future which I believe is a great one with so many youngster in the squad.

Re: We've all seen Obertan play, do we still need another midfielder?

To all who say 'YES' you are in for a quick fix...only looking to buy established players at other leagues, not proven yet the asking prices are ridiculously high. Give Obertan, Nani, Anderson, Gibson, Tosic a chance to grow. We are talking the most intense football league in the world, and they are world's best young football players who have the same potential as Zidane, Figo, Giggs, C.Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaka....yet they are still improving their games and under the right watchful eyes of SAF & the rest of Manchester United staff.

Besides, I think young players like Cesc Fabregas, Kun Aguero, Villa & Silva so highly are just overrated. I wonder if Real Madrid / Barcelona / Inter will want to buy Fletcher for 40 Million pounds???? Hey he's only 25 and already one of the best players at the best football team in the world right???

I am talking about the exact same chance we have given to C.Ronaldo, Rooney, Giggs, Beckham, Scholes, Neville, Fletcher, Wes Brown, & O'Shea.

Besides, we still have Owen Hargreaves due to come back soon. Michael Owen will get more chances. And Antonio Valencia is doing great for us!
