Re: Fernando Torres, a slim chance, a possibility?

To be honest why should Torres show respect to the fans? He is not from Merseyside, he is not a youth product, he is a spanish player that joined em a couple of seasons ago for a big money move! Fans in every club love a player when your winning but despise em if they are not, if Torres was to show em respect and stay with them and win nothing whats his career story ''Yea I won nothing but the fans loved me'' rubbish ! No player is untouchable to any club, the right fee and right motivation and a player will leave, Sol Campbell is a prime example, he left Spurs to go to fierce Arsenal to win trophies, which he did, Luis Figo did the unimaginable at the time and left Barcelona for Real Madrid to win trophies and he did, Beckham,Ronaldo,Heinze,Ruud Van Nistlerooy all left Manchester United for Real Madrid and won things (Ronaldo not yet), Kaka said he loved Milan and would stay all his career, oops where did he go a few weeks later?so for Torres to want to leave Liverpool to win trophies and possibly join Manchester United is not as far fetched as some may think! Remember,Steven Gerrard was a phone call away from leaving Liverpool for Chelsea to win trophies, but cos he is a born and bred scouser then his heart over ruled his head, and he was awarded with the 2005 Champions League trophy!

I see some members here have Michael Owen on their avatar etc, would those members have imagined him at Manchester United before he even reached 30? no they wouldnt, not in their wildest dreams! So maybe some people can harbour the dream of Fernando Torres leading the line at OT in the future, after all stranger things have happened, havent they ?

Some else there, cant remember who said about Fergie wasting £30m on Berbatov and not Torres, well to be honest Fergie made the CORRECT decision at the time,Torres was never really prolific in Spain, thats a reason why his debut season was such a suprise to people in England also Spain, 2nd Atl Madrid had twice held talks with Man Utd to sell them Torres back after the 2002 world cup and also in 2004 and both times Torres felt he was too young or not ready to move to England,Fergie got fed up with waiting for a player who didnt know what he wanted so he went and bought Wayne Rooney, anybody regret that? NO! Fergie also bidded £12m for Berbatov and the time of his move from Leverkusen to Spurs, but because it was a last minute bid Berbatov chose Spurs because he would be a starting XI player and also because they had had more communication with him over the previos months,Fergie had his eye on Berbatov ever since Leverkusen knocked Manchester United out of the Champions League semi finals when the final was to be held in Hampden Park (Berbatov cored 2 I think in the 2nd leg) Fergie didnt think it was a wise move to pay £30m for a player from Spain who wasnt prolific and also was untested in the Premiership, Im sure his fingers are still burnt from the deals he paid  for Veron (world best CM at the time and what happened?) Forlan (20 goals plus a season before we signed him)...And also because of the Glazers and the debt Fergie cant really afford to make such expensive mistakes !

He has let some players before just slip through his grasp, he had known about Joe Cole since he was a teen, he became available from West Ham and Fergie ignored him,Carrick left for £4m and we paid £18m a season later, stupid, Frank Lampard was another Fergie admired but never went for him when Ranieri brought him to Chelsea for £10m, we had Scholes,Butt,Keane,Beckham,Giggs at the time but maybe a slight hindsight to the future would benefit managers at times,...Ive been frustrated at some of the teams performances this season and to be honest I can see another bad one on Sunday against Chelsea, who knows? We dont need a 5ft Aguero in our team,no thanks, he has been marginally rubbish this season for Atl Madrid and cant even get into the Argentina team and the manager is his father in law, says enough doesnt it?Lads get off the FM and look at real life football, cos all these people saying Aguero will be our saviour are talking out of their hat,I dont disagree on Villa or Silva however it has to be for the right reason, I really like Wellbeck, I rate him more than Macheda, give him time,Im sure if Wellbeck was Spanish or Brazilian playing for Barcelona ye all would be saying to buy him etc, yet when the player is on our own doorstep ye tend to cast your eyes at others, far away fields aint always greener you know?

Central Midfield is what we need, a creator of chances,Fletcher is a work horse and has come on a lot in 3 seasons,I personally remember hating him everytime he played for us but now,I think he should be the first choice CM, Carrick has not developed the way Im Fergie wanted him to,he is a poor mans Lampard without the goals, his performances have gone backwards in the last two seasons, and last seasons Champions League proves that, Iniesta and Xavi were attacking, pushing forward with the ball at all times and making chances for Messi and Eto'o while most of Carricks passes were back to the defense etc, thats the problem,I think Manchester United dont have the proper coaches at OT, coaches that teaches this to you, pass and move, look for the killer ball, and coaches to train strikers on the runs they make, the best mids and attackers are not english, they are brazilian, spanish and argentinian, these players that play in Spain and Italy , they are taught football the correct way, fast and decisive football, thats why Veron,Poborsky, Forlan failed, not cos of the league and physicality of the Premiership but because Manchester United dont play fast fluid football, Arsenal do it well with Fabregas,Barcelona do it well with Xavi and Iniesta, Manchester United struggle with Carrick and Fletcher..Anderson that was on youtube before and Man Utd and the same player we see now play for us are almost two different players, he is being taught the Man Utd way and not to play the same way that earned him a £18m move to Man Utd in the first place!not a good thing, we need to get proper attacking coaches in at the reserves and work our way up, the barca kids play like the barca seniors thats why the youth intergrate with the senior team so well , they know what their job is and where the ball will be played into cos they have been taught this from the youths,is Manchester United taught the same? There is plenty wrong in our team play at the moment and no Aguero will fix it, we need to improve our general play firstly then go look at out reserve players like Petrucci and Wellbeck to come in and have the desired effect that we all know they can do !

I'd definitely welcome Torres to Old Trafford but the fact is that the scousers would never sell him to us so it is a useless question. Would you welcome Gerrard?!

Re: Fernando Torres, a slim chance, a possibility?

i surely think this is a possibility, who would have expected owen to join us in the summer he was linked with hull and everton but ended up in united. Tevez said he respects the fans but still join city so i think there is a chance he may join us besides i cannot see him joining any other big european side other than united and chelsea. In real madrid's case he supports aletico as a boy so he wont be joining them, barca would rather groom their own superstar from the academy as they dun believe in spending big money besides they already have ibra, pedro and bojan , the other sides in spain may not be able to afford them. In italy ac milan refusal to spend and sign young players sees them out and besides they have boriello, inzagi, hunterlaar and pato which is another player i would really love to see in united's colour. Inter already have milito , suazo , eto and balotelli so they is no way he'll be ending up there and besides he knows that joining united would be the only way for him to win trophies every season and who doesnt relish the prospect of playing with wayne rooney.

Personally i think he's a world class player n seeing him  in a man utd jersey would be like a dream come true but i know for sure that Rafa would rather resign first than agree to sell him to us.

    Jay-Ray7:
he will never join us out of respect for Liverpool

Of course Torres in our team would be just amazing, but i respect him for this thinking, i mean it's just as if rooney lived us to go to liverpool ...

I think he's a good guy, and he'll never do that to anfield guys, so, sadly, no discussion :)

He's a fantastic striker, but he admitted that he will never join us out of respect for Liverpool.

So, it's more like NO chance, an Improbability.

Its deffo possible and I would welcome him with open arms. If they fail to qualify for europe and go out this week then the waiter is doomed and when he given the boot we could get torres for 60 mil. Imagine him and roney up front. awesome Big Smile

Re: Fernando Torres, a slim chance, a possibility?

If Benitez were to go to Real, which he has always wanted to do, he would take the odd player, but Torres delyed leaving Atletico out of loyalty for them.  I could not see him going to the other Madrid side.

He is more likely to go to Spain, or Italy, than another Prem team.  Pity we did not get him first from Atletico.

We already have Macheda, Tocsic and now Obertan, as well as Owen as sub.  Lets blood them and get some pace.

Prem Lgs Champions No 4 this season!!

Re: Fernando Torres, a slim chance, a possibility?

I think if Torres were to leave Liverpool as theyare not doing well, he would not consider Man Utd at all out of respect. He respects the fans and, and the fans repsect him. Anyway, can anybody realistically see SAF bidding for Torres? If Torres is to leave Liverpool, he would still recieve stick from Liverpool fans, but the only clubs I can see bidding for Torres at the moment is Man City or Chelsea. Maybe even Barca...
