Theres a defence that can deal with Barca... We just didn't show up on the day... And if you look at the highlights again it wasn't as one sided as they make it sound! I really didn't know how many people had mental issues before joining this forum!

 All we need is Fletcher.

I think we need a Messi to be as good as Barca. Our defece is good, attack is good, but require a lot of work in the midfield.

 yes we were outplayed in the final last season, but don't forget it was ONE game. don't forget 90% of that barca team was the same team that we beat the year before.. in ONE game.. we were also outplayed against liverpool just recently, and last season at home, and last season at anfield, should we also adopt a defensive approach against them? yes rooney is one of th best players in the world but why dont u leave the thinking to SAF because you clearly don't know as much as he does. if he felt that we needed to buy a world-class replacement for ronaldo then he would have done it don't you think? please tell me how chelsea's defence is equal to ours when WE were the team that broke all those clean sheet records. you say barca couldn't break down chelsea but they DID. remember what i said about taking a defensive approach? you have to be prepared to draw/lose and that's exactly what happened to chelsea. even at stamford bridge they decided to play defensive, after they scored they STILL sat back trying to nullify barca's attacking threat, which they almost did. but look what happened in the end?

its a well known fact that attack is the best form of defence and unless it's a team like stoke playing against barcelona then there's no need to play defensive. we still have a great attack, we are capable of beating any team in the world. don't forget we're manchester united

 and yes sure i'm not disagreeing with you that signing maicon would be great, all i'm saying is that our defense is fine and we don't need any changes in tactics to play against any team. though i'd welcome silva with open arms as he's an ATTACKING player.

 Have u seen barca play. they are brilliant. spanish league has more than 2 teams that are good enough to mount a title challenge. they arguably have 4 teams as well, that could win the spanish league. i am not saying that barca is better than us but if we face them this year we wil have to play spectacular to beat them (which we can most definitley do) 

 

lol please tell me what 4 teams could win la liga? every year it's between barca and real madrid. we have a consistent top 4 for a reason as they are all genuine title challengers, and like you said la liga has ARGUABLY 4 teams, not DEFINITELY 4 teams. do you really think any other team apart from barca and real madrid are on the same level as our top 4? 

yes barca look brilliant, and they definitely one of the best in the world but so are we. and yes ur right we CAN beat them..

 

Please, as long as Giggs, Owen, Berba, Park and Obertan are around we dont need those two... OK I would give like 20 Nanis for a Silva, but with giggs fit, left wing is better than ever, and by the time giggs retires nani or obertan might be able to fill his shoes, with park rotating in sometime. Villa is different. The reason we dont score that many goals is not that we dont have quality strikers, we have the absolute PERFECT combination of strikers. all different and all one of the best in the business. By the way I would love to see welbeck and macheda in the first team sometimes, and signing villa probably wouldnt make them feel so great... So to hell with the spanish, if we have enough experience and creativity in midfield (Giggsy, Fletch, Scholes, CarrickÖ the goals will come!

i totally agree sometimes i want 2 bring in villa and silva next day hazard and lukaku next day jovetic and pato etc but i always want to sell carrick and always want to buy rodwell

Cesar- arguably the best keeper in the world at the moment, we have a world-class keeper in van der Sar so not needed but he may retire at the end of the season. Has said that he wants to stay with Inter so not likely.

Maicon- the best right-back in the world a fantastic signing, another attacking option as well. Would not halt the development of Rafael because Rafael does not get played anyway and he would still only be 23 when Maicon is 32 and he is pushing for a place. As a defender Maicon could carry on until 35 though. A possibility as he has stated he wants to leave Inter. 

Essien- best defensive midfielder in the world without a doubt, saying Fletcher is as good is ridiculous. Never be allowed to leave Chelsea for us unless we offered Rooney in a swap deal, I was just wishing.

I never said that it was possible to get this defence, I was just saying this is what it would take to cope with Barcas attack. Maicon I think we should buy, but because everybofy was posting their Fifa teams I thought I would.

why pay 15-25 mil for a 30 year old keeper in cesar where you can get 2 as good keepers for cesar's price? neuer+adler won't coast 30 mil for both.

we didnt sell hargreaves because we believe in him and we waited all this time for him to make a comeback and spent alot of money for the doctors to cure him and now that he is about to return, you come up with a suggestion of signing a player who we wanted way back then but didnt pay the asking price and he ended up going to chelski? micheal essien would be lost if you compare his experience to hargreaves's. 

you want maicon? how much would you pay for him? 20 mil? why? if you have rafael who i have no doubts that he will be the best right back in the world in a couple of years, the guy isnt even 20 years old and he's already played many games for the 1st team.

 

at the moment i think VDS is better than julio cesar, once VDS is finally finished then yes get him!

I like O'shea where he is, he's solid and never lets you down, maicon isnt as defensive minded, leaving Rio and Vida isolated when Evra also flies up the pitch!

The only problem with our defence is evra's height, its a danger with crossing, if he could grow some more he'd be the best full back ever lol.

Essien's superb, but seriously we're never going to get him, Daniele De Rossi was my main man over the summer, but that didn't happen, Hargo will more than certainly do the job!

please tell me how they're better than us? they play in a league that's far easier to win (only 2 teams good enough to mount a title challenge) whereas we have 4 teams capable of winning the epl. we've won the epl 3years in a row and the champions league last year too (beating barca on the way) while barcelona have had only one good year to our three. why should we adopt defensive tactics? that's not in our nature, we are manchester united, known for our attacking power. you should know that if you put out a defensively minded team that you should be willing to settle for a draw or a loss as the best form of defense is attack. you clearly doubt our players ability and i don't know why as we've only lost 1 player, granted he is the best player in the world, we still beat barcelona last year with the same defense that lost to them this year so why does anything need to change? we managed to deal with ibrahimovic with only vidic and evans against inter this year and evra can handle messi anyday, o'shea did fine against henry (as someone mentioned before) and with a fit ferdinand we'd maintain our status once again as the best defence in the world so please tell me WHY we need new defensive players? i'd understand if you were saying you wanted a replacement for ronaldo because apart from that our team hasnt changed and last time i checked, ronaldo was only an attacking player.

We have VDS who is better than Ceasar. Fletcher is in the same level as Essien and Oshea, Neville and Rafael are all strong even if Maicon would be a good signing.

 

I'd say Cesar and VDS are on the same level, agreed on RB. But when you say Essien and Fletcher are on the same level, I find it hard not think you're just being incredibly biased, they are no where near the same level.
