    Re: Alan Smith

He wasn't United quality, but he certainly would have made himself known to the Barca midfielders.. Unlike a certain trio who played.

Are you all on ***. Smith was one of the most under productive players I've ever seen. It was a breath of fresh air not to see him in the starting line up!

    Re: Alan Smith

Do you remember how bad he was last time we had him? Maybe we should go all out and get Kleberson and Djemb-Djemba too, that would really scare Chelsea and the other title contenders.....

    you get sarcasm right?

    Re: Alan Smith

Had Smith played in the CL final last season I feel he would have definitely made the midfield more present within the game!

    Re: Alan Smith

When Smith was here i thought he done a very good job for us.We brought him as a striker even though he had the likes of Rooney Van Nistelrooy Saha Rossi Solsjaer here for competition and all that but he still scored his fair share of goals and then when Keane retired we needed someone who can play in that position Fergie put his trust in Smith and he didnt let us down i thought he done a brilliant job there and even though he came from Leeds he loved playing for us and always played with a paasion for us and sweated blood for our team he was brilliant. Then he suffered that horrer injury but he done amazingly well to come back from that fighting and that gave us a extra spring.Depp down Fergie didnt want to sell him and Smith didnt want to leave but he wanted first team football and Fergie couldnt offer that at the time thats why Smith moved on even though he didnt want to.

I would love to see him back but it wont happen hes a player that i like a tryer never gives up plays anywhere without fuss and always gives 100%.

    Re: Alan Smith

Truth is, you can 20 Alan Smiths anywhere in the globe as long as you have the money. My point is world class players are difficult to find. And yes, Alan Smith is super committed player but what sense in having one like him when he doesn't deliver at all? I appreciate his sacrifice and the fact that he broke his leg playing for us, I think he is really a great guy and all. But all said and done, there's no point in having a striker who can't score goals and playing him as a midfielder when we have 4 other more talented guys. I don't know why in the world, in the first place we bought Alan Smith. We could have bought Mark Viduka but instead we got this guy who can't score nuts.

    Re: Alan Smith

I dont think this will ever happen, Ferguson always sells players for a reason and he probably didn't think Smith was good enough for a rapidly developing United squad. However i was left very dissapointed by the sale of this player, because the drive, determination and energy Smith put in to his game was phenominal, i thought he should have at least stayed on as a squad player because it was his work rate and ethic that helped push United over the finishing line in the race for the Premier League in 2006/2007.

It's quite suprising really, over the past few seasons i have seen many threads asking for Alan Smith's return, i have never seen it for any other ex-United player. I think it is mainly because United fans never really got to see much of this player at his best, yet because of his work rate and determination, we always wanted to see him make it at United, sadly, it never happend.

    Alan Smith

I think maybe we should have re-signed Alan Smith during the summer, he was good in midfield and also doubled up as a striker. His tackling was excellent and also his finishing. Could hav signed him for around 5million i'd say. What do ye think?
