Re: BERBATOV BASHERS WHERE HAVE YOU ALL GONE??

I'm probably one of Berbatov's biggest fans, i watch all his and united's games. And i'm really well-informed about his game and stuff like that. I'm not sure most of you realise that making the huge step from a decent team like Tottenham to Man Utd is a huge step for any player. Thats why it takes 1 season to most of the players to get used to the team and stuff. Otherwise why do you think Man City doesn't shine every game, with all the Multi-Millions they have on the bench, they need time.

But Berbatov is already shining in every game he plays,  maybe he's not Usain Bolt but his technique and vision, not talking about the way he scores his goals are to be proud of for any team and for the whole Premier League. He is one of a kind, thats why SAF insisted about his arrival at Old Trafford.

     Best wishes.

sanjay313 i agree and at the same time disagree with your post...i mean. There ISN'T a striker that takes all his chances...you say it takes him more than 5 chances to score one goal..but look for instance the glorious striking force of Barcelona the last two weeks...they couldn't beat Rubin Kazan even though they have players up front like Ibra,Messi(i think Henry didn't play but i could be mistaken). And lets take Owen..don't get me wrong..he scored some very important goals so far...but look at how many chances he's missed..and some of them..he absolutely mistimes his swing and misses the ball. And plus Owen doesn't create much..he just sits there and waits for the ball...thats not bad but if you're gonna play like that you have to be scoring your chances.
Plus...someone sayd somethign like "its amazing how one sensational goal can save a player's reputation" or...first of all...the last couple of weeks Berba has been sensational(in my opinion) and the two goals we scored we're very important(against Sunderland we we're strugling...noone created anything too dangerous..and when he scored the whole team charged forward...we would have beaten them if it weren't for Ben's mistake)...and the goal against blackburn...the same thing...the first goal to score is always the hardest...after that..you have breathing space.

One good goal in 7-1000 games (when this guy plays it seems like a 100 years) and Zidane is 20,000 time a better player than this guy.

From your words i do wonder, what will be your reply when some one ask you about your age. If it is like 25 then you will say i am 25000 years old. As you have the funny way of adding zeroes Wink

One good goal in 7-1000 games (when this guy plays it seems like a 100 years) and everyone's saying Berba's God. Michael Owen played in fewer games and he's probably scored more. Berba's Real Madrid stuff, class and whatnot. But he's one lazy c$$t. I'd rather we had someone like Drogba, Saha, vNistelrooy than the classy Berba. The strangest thing is that people compare this guy to Zidane! Zidane is 20,000 time a better player than this guy. Only if Berba had the energy about him and the means to inspire the team with play. He's a good player but spoils the rhythym of the team. Well, I'd be more than happy to be proven wrong, but for me, 2 spectacular goals in 8-10 games doesn't cut it.

Omar you said enough for me to even reply lol!

And David Villa's record and technical abilities speak for themselves...international and club level......doesnt need me to point it out.....anyone who wouldnt want him to join us is barking mad in my opinion!....Great teams should contain great players!

Talking about Berbatov making these late runs......its all about conviction and timing with these runs....(Paul Scholes used to be the master at them!) you need to make a late surge....not a late stroll......and as the person making the late run.....if it doesnt come off and the other team win possession......its your job to track back and help prevent a counter attack!.....not stand there, hands on hips having a whinge....

Anyway.....lets hope for this Berbatov hat-trick on Sunday that Omar is wishing for!.....that'd shut us "fickle fans" up lol!!!!

Re: BERBATOV BASHERS WHERE HAVE YOU ALL GONE??

    Yulian:
About Berbatov - United have in his face a type of player which has unique talant - he can do so many things on the pitch, and give more options to SAF in attack, can play as a striker, can play behind the striker, can play as AM if needed to do so.

The problem is not where he can or cannot play, its where he needs to play to bring the best out of himself n make maximum contribution for the team. As you would have noticed Rooney thrives playing in that free-role and thats where hes at his best. Now Berba n Rooney can interchange postions sometimes but for most of the play there has to be a defined role for the 2 of ém and since Rooney is best at deep, we need Berba to stay forward a lot more.

    Yulian:
The problem is that United bought Berba as a striker and fans expect from him to score a goal every game just because of that.

Not every game but more than the rate hes scoring at right now... remember we don't have ronaldo anymore so someone has to step up to replace the goals he scored. Rooney has been on track ever since the season started (except for a couple of games) and will probably end up with 25+ this season. We need or atleast hope that Berba can do equally well.... for that he needs to start scoring frequently...

    Yulian:
And something more about Berba expecting the ball on his feet from teamates in the box - yes he is angry when he is a perfect positon - but instead of just passing the ball to him the wingers make something else - dribble or just shoot the ball high in the stends (Nany) - Berba delibaretely arrive in the box a little bit lately in order to have more space around him - and this can be seen better when you watched the match on TV -

ok that stands to some extent, but for some reason I see Rooney always making more effort to find himself in space whereas Berbatov usually stands n wait and then wails his arm in frustration cos the ball doesn't end up right on his end. He needs to realise that if he tries to beat the defenders eye he is bound to get into more goal-scoring positions n thus a lot more goals... like he did against stoke. yes we know he CAN stand n deliver like he did with that awesome goal against blackburn, but those moments can't possibly be produced week in week out. so we come back to square one saying he should show more tenacity and hunger with his game. The supply is to blamed yes, but as a senior world-class player he should take more responsibility as well.

All in all your post is pretty much alright, but to consistently go on winning runs we are going to need atleast 2 regular goal-scorers. One is Rooney, the only name that comes next in the list is Berbatov. So God be willing, he scores a hat-trick against chelsea! Stick out tongue Big Smile

Exactly mate....its not insulting to say an improved player still has to improve more to become classed as brilliant....of course im happy he has improved this year but i still think he has massive grey areas in his game at present......thats my opinion......

cheers for that bit of support mate lol.....what you must realise mate is that this site is run like a dictatorship at times and any critisism is treated like a morbid sin!......my point is that if there was no critisism in the world.....how would things ever improve?? Berbatov's a big boy, im sure he can take a bit of critisism....and im sure he must be starting to realise a bit of a pattern emerging in his game.......

......every time he attacks the oppositions box with a bit of conviction....he looks dangerous!.....couple that with the ability to produce something out of nothing.....surely he must thinking to himself......."i need to be more tenacious and direct with my game, and start steaming into the box and believing im going to make something happen!"

If he did that game in, game out he'd be superb!....Instead of the majority of the time whereby he kind of ambles into the box and expects the ball to land at his feet......or simply doesnt help out with the tracking back or pressurizing of defenses......if he just injected a bit of aggression and tenacity into his game then we'd all be on here talking about what a fantastic signing he was!....instead of the 50/50 divide!

.....and im sorry if i upset anyone but my belief that Rooney would be best partnered with (and situated behind) a real pacey, prolific frontman is never going to change......doesnt necessarily mean we should sell Berbatov, it just means we should add another striker to our ranks to suit Rooney's game....again my opinions....David Villa would be sensational.

and dont start with Nani lol......the boys got diamonds in his boots but they appear to be detached from his brain at times!....

Hahaha thats one of the best posts I've seen recently. Doesn't necassarily mean I agree with everything cos I still hope to see Rooney and Berba do some magic together, but you were spot on with almost every other point you made- especially the Nani one! Big Smile Stick out tongue

Its a game of opinions ay bud! Dont get me wrong....id love to see Berba and Rooney forge a true partnership....but i dont see a true cohesion at the mo.....again though that will probs be interpreted as im hoping to see it fail by certain factions on this site lol!

On a plus note dude......Obertan looked like he had diamonds in his boots and a star dust coated brain tonight!.....always looked pacey, was able to beat a man and more importantly....always looked to play the right ball tonight!....long may that continue!

Great, exciting comeback tonight but still a frustrating performance for me.....United looked brilliant and totally dominated when they went for it (last 15-20 mins)....as they always do!.....so why dont we just go for it every game and play at that tempo!??

.....the high tempo, attacking football gets the crowd going, which raises the players levels further....which leads to domination and more often than not...goals.....so everybody's happy!

ok, how many games of villa have you watched - you  are so confident that he will be sensational - i think SAF knows what type of player the team needs. I have watched several games of David Villa and was not impressed ( he is definitely good - but did not find nothing sensational in him). As you maybe know SAF was after Benzema - he is young and promising - but it was his overrated price and willing of Benzema to go to Madrid - instead od Manchester. About Berbatov - United have in his face a type of player which has unique talant - he can do so many things on the pitch, and give more options to SAF in attack, can play as a striker, can play behind the striker, can play as AM if needed to do so. The problem is that United bought Berba as a striker and fans expect from him to score a goal every game just because of that. But SAF says is at all by saying before the signing that he will buy a player who will add another dimension to United attack and that he will buy experiensed player from which young Rooney and Ronaldo can teach.

The price of Berba is 30 mil, because of City offer and Levy desire to sold his star at that price tag. Berba has not gult in this - he is just a proffesional. And if remember his price could be higher if he was accepting City offer - something which Tevez do, and Berba agree to play for twice less money than City offers to him. Also he was not making drama when on bench or substituted - he respect the club, the manager and the fans till now. This year he plays more like a forward, but a lot of briliant saves and missfortunes, sharing playing time wtih Owen deprieve him from having more goals if you track back the games from the begining. In a way he is playing now - and if he stays healthy he will finish wiht at least 20 goals.

And something more about Berba expecting the ball on his feet from teamates in the box - yes he is angry when he is a perfect positon - but instead of just passing the ball to him the wingers make something else - dribble or just shoot the ball high in the stends (Nany) - Berba delibaretely arrive in the box a little bit lately in order to have more space around him - and this can be seen better when you watched the match on TV - Berba on position with both hands spread and no defenders around him expecting the same crosses to him as these he make to his teamates if in similar postion.

Leave off Di$co $tu - He is one of only a dozen people on this forum that actually make valid points and contributions - and clearly knows what he is talking about. - It's called "Constructive" criticism

We will see come January or May what the verdict is on Berbatov. I Don't dislike or hate him... I'd just like everyone to wait until this season is finished, see what we win and for him to be judged on that.

It's pointless when people think their negative comments are justified when he has an average game.... or on the flip side when he produces a great flick - assist or even a goal.

I would have thought there would have been far more threads on NANI !
