While agreeing that you can't remove everyone no matter how unruly.  I would hope and yet not expect people to police themselves.

It is ashame that these types of chants exist, yet I suppose short sighted bigots will be short sighted bigots.

    was my post edited?

i remember using a word that was sure to get encrypted but now see the word clowns appear, unless this uni work is slowing my mind down, i have a feeling i've been edited by a MOD?

I hate to sound too negative but it won't achieve anything.  Pleas have been made in the past and have not achieved anything.   I personally don't join in this chant because I think it crosses the boundaries of good taste and I will have no sympathy for anyone who is ejected as a result, but even this will not stop people singing it.  You can't eject thousands of people in one foul swoop!  Not even the Old Trafford stewards are that efficient.

Re: Manchester United to write open letter to fans - Wenger chant.

I can see where they're coming from but I'll bet only the gaffer' is considering Arsene Wenger's view of the situation. As far as I can tell, anyone else in the club is thinking of the commercial opportunity in clamping down on the 'yobs' as united fans are now known as rather than upholding respect for Monsoir Wenger.

I've said it before and I'll say it again,it may be disrespectful but to me it wasn't what some people made out,i.e comparing it to the level of homo.phobic nature of hate that Sol Campbell received, whilst the lyrics may be crude the united lot singing it were not saying it with hate like the Spurs fans were, more as a joke at his expense but I can see where it comes from

saying that to me this is only going to become a bigger problem, thanks To Sall wallace reporting on the Barnsley 'hooliganism' any united fan aged 16-18 who dressed in black to games instead of red and white face paint is now a suspected Moston rat who he claims organised the 'riot',he fails to grasp the fact that the moston rats are banned and also aren't respected by the older united lot,one lad acting the goat in besiktas was knocked spark out by an older united fan and whatever some people like to think, united's fans aren't all grouped together as this thuggish mentality that the media spew about us,we were black and stand at games, real Green Street Chavette's aren't we?

pretty soon, any fans caught singing any song designed for banter will be subject to judicial review by the board of the club,i'm not saying this was banter but pretty soon I don't think we'll recognise the word banter anymore, not if these stewards and crouts at the FA have their way!

Manchester United to write open letter to fans - Wenger chant.

Manchester United are to write an open letter to their fans in which Sir Alex Ferguson will appeal for an end to the chants aimed at Arsene Wenger whenever Arsenal visit Old Trafford. Wenger is routinely subjected to a chorus of "sit down you ***" and the Premier League champions are so embarrassed by the nature of the songs that Ferguson has agreed to back his old adversary

"We have gone on the record several times about this disgusting chant. We don't condone it and have appealed to fans several times in the past but to no avail," a United spokesman said. "There are many chants that opposing fans find objectionable, and this is certainly one to which all decent supporters should object." and when Ferguson was last asked about it publicly he said: "Manchester United and its supporters should also know very well the chants that have been levelled at us over the years – ie songs about Munich [air disaster] – and understand the sensitivity that is felt. I don't agree with it at all. There's enough to think about and admire in the game without resorting to denigrating people."

United will also instruct their stewards to take stronger action with supporters who ignore Ferguson's appeal. The club hope that ejecting some fans and confiscating season tickets will spread the message that it will no longer be tolerated

Well done Sir Alex Ferguson & the club on this occasion, to be honest its hard to be haveing a go at the scousers about their anti united chants, when we have a section of fans ourselves that deem it ok to sing such a classless chant. It should have no place at a football ground because it goes beyond normal banter to something  personal and serious.  it's ok to have a sneaky dig the odd time because of the fatih he happens to have in his youth players which is a great thing when you think about it, but that chant is below the belt if you ask me. Ive said it before & i'll say it again i think he is a fantastic manager & deserves respect.
