Re: Obertan needs to start against Chelsea

I have no idea on the best formation which will play Berbatov & Rooney.

I think Giggs will start on the left with Valencia, Carrick & Fletcher completing the midfield.

Owen & Obertan will come on in the 2nd half if we are losing.

I'd prefer Sir Ryan Giggs to start with Obertan coming on as a sub.

I'm all for him starting.....I'd rather see Giggsy come in the 2nd half when the Chelski right side is out of wind chasing the boy. Then let the old guard control the game and pick up a nice 3 points.

For me there will only be one person starting on the left on Sunday

Ryan Giggs although take nothing away from Obertan he has made an excellent start to his career at United in my eyes

unfortunately, it looks like giggs will be used on the left on sunday. giggs is getting tired quickly when playing on the wing because that position requires fresh legs and giggs isnt any young. i like giggs in the middle because he can penetrate the ball very well and his control is awesome, he is more effective when playing in the middle. but, i guess we have no other options as nani isnt doing any better and park is injured.

as for obertan, the guy is really progressing and i think he will develope into a star, he is young and needs big match experience.

on sunday i prefer this line-up

                                                        vds

    oshea                         brown                             vidic                 evra

                                                  fletcher

    valencia                                                                              obertan

                                   scholes                    giggs

                                                rooney

4-3-3 with two older legs behind a striker, that doesn't like to play upfront by himself. Will never happen. Also, Scholes doesn't deserve that game at all, should go to Ando-Fletcher.

Re: Obertan needs to start against Chelsea

Nani played well tonight, but he's not consistent. He looked good at some parts but then died away.

Obertan came on and our attack seemed better. The lad is making quite a statement for himself these few weeks.

I don't think he'll start against Chelsea though. I'd love for him to, but I don't see it happening. Giggs will most likely get the start, but if Giggs isn't fit enough for it, then I hope Obertan gets the start. And I honestly think he'd do well. Once he gets a big game under his belt, his confidence will skyrocket and he'll become that much better.

i think he'll go for the wing play, seriously doubt he wants a midfield battle even with fletherino back. Fact is nobody knows what SAF will do,all in all i'm looking foward to the game, 4--3-3,4-5-1, 4-4-2 doesnt matter, bring on the rent boys

    Shannon =]:

    Da-Silva-United:

I would heavily not recommend that duo, once Valencia is put in ashley's pocket it means we will have no width left which is just not what you want to do. Chelsea are better taken on with a full wing attack + Berba upfront and Fletch in the middle.

Who would who put on the right then? Would you really drop our in-form winger?

    I can't see anything but a 4-2-2 tbh.

    RJC_MUFC:

    @ Shannon: Park is injured.

    He trained yesterday.

    4-4-2 or 4-3-3.

As Chelsea plays narrow football Fergie will either opt to use the wings or make it a midfield battle. Maybe though, which i strongly think will happen, SAF will play 4-5-1 ( Mark my words).

And Park is just making it back from injury, he won't play.

Re: Obertan needs to start against Chelsea

I really hopes he starts against chelsea, if it were up to me i would start him( i guess thats why i'm typing away here at this late hour and SAF is the manager :-) )

Seriously though obertan looks good, he has good composure, his body language on the ball is good, he's slick and most importantly seems to have a football brain, he's always looking to beat the defender, play a 1-2 after beating the defender, aware of players around him, its quite clear he studies the game critically. i think he'll play a part on sunday but i see no reason why the leash on this guy should be tight after seeinbg him a few times, i've played with this formation in my head and i feel it'll compliment the players and play to their strength

                                                                                                                 VDS

                                                                                             BROWN      EVANS   VIDIC  EVRA

                                                                                        VALENCIA   FLETHCER  GIGGS/ANDERSON

                                                                                                   ROONEY          OBERTAN

                                                                                                          BERBA/OWEN

Rooney likes to drop deep and you can be sure he'll track back.with obertan there as well the link up play would be sublime. The fact of the matter is valencia is like a midfielder being asked to pplay on the wing. He's strong, quick, tracks back and a no nonsense kind of player, with flether playing in the middle and having  giggs or ando alongside him. with the present form of rio, the back 5 picks its self. Berba and owen to battle it out.

Before anyone slates me, i've never played football manager before. i'm just a supporter of the best club in the world and the fact of  the matter these are exciting times and i'm enjoying it. The team seems to be turning a corner, cant wait for the new recruits to come in january

Giggs for Chelsea, Obertan ust isn't ready for that yet.

spot on......lets give the lad time to settle in,

thought Macheda looked very good tonight and deserved at least 1 goalWink

and I think we saw United's goalkeeper for the next 10 years Akinfeev..........he was brilliant

I'm gonna out on a limb and vote for Obertan to start ahead of Nani for the upcoming Chelsea match and try out if he can handle it.

Looks like a good acquistition by Fergie so far.

I also like to see him start the match, he needs to participate in that kind of match, he has the skills to change the result in any match he play in, we want to see what he can do against strong players in big matches.

Re: Obertan needs to start against Chelsea

He hasn't played a full game in the EPL as yet, too soon to start him against Chelsea of all people.

I think we should look into :

                           Anderson  Fletcher
                Valencia       Rooney      Giggs
                                     Berba

    OR

                                  Fletcher
                    Valencia              Giggs/Anderson

                                 Rooney

                          Berba         Owen

We all know though that Fergie will probably play 4-4-2 against them.

             Valencia - Anderson - Fletcher - Giggs

                               Rooney - Berba

    Which is okay with me.
