Can any1 explain to me why most of the people including SAF and Macheda and other united players and fans think that UNITED is thru to the final stages of the UCL. Yes 10 points has always been the safe marker but in this group's circumstances, i dont think that we are safe into the final stages.

                    Pld      W     D     L   GF       GA      Pts
    Man. United                  4       3     1      0     7         4      10
    Wolfsburg                  4       2     1      1        7         3        7
    CSKA Moskva                  4       1     1      2     6         8        4
    Beşiktaş                  4       0     1      3     1         6        1

ok, let me elaborated and explain my point. The table above shows our standing. we are sat comfortably on top. All teams have 2 more games reaming. So if CSKA Moscw wins their last 2 games, they will have ten points and United lose 2 remaining games we will have 10pts. and then on the other ahnd wolfsburg win only one game then they still have 10 pts. so in the end all 3 teams are tied with 10pts and any of the three can be out and even UNITED!!! So how can everyone think that united have already qualified??? can any1 explain to me? i  mean theoretically we are still vulnerable and CSKA MOSCOW can still qualify if united lose all 2 games(which i dont think we will but there is a possibility).

Becos the max points that CSKA can get is 10 pts, and since we have better head to head (win 1-0 away and drew 3-3 home) even if they get 10pts, united go thru

Pwned... Plus google a search about us qualifying its in articles all over the place.. Plus it had said it on Sky Sports News pre-match and the commentators and match pundits were talking about it so I don't think you alone would have outsmarted all of them Smile although I can see why you might have thought what you thought Smile. Even the players were saying its nice to be able to concentrate on the league now Smile.

We are through and we only need one point against Wolfsburg to win the group.

Re: Every1 is RIGHT, we are thru

If we were level with CSKA it would be decided on head to head, rather than goal difference. So becuase we have had the better of the CSKA games, we are definately through.

No every1 is right you are wrong lol utd have 10 points 3 wins and 1 draw if you look at your table you have 7 points put in, if you look at it with 10 points you will see we are 100% through no matter what happens :D

No...Only if the head-to-head doesn't separate them, the goal diff comes into play.. I think UEFA made a mistake in (b) here..If a team has better head to head record, isn't it obvious that they'd have a better Goal difference? "If two or more teams are level on points they are split by (a) higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the teams in question, (b) superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams in question (c) higher number of goals scored away from home the group matches played among the teams in question (d) superior goal difference from all matches played, (e) higher number of goals scored, (f) higher number of coefficient points accumulated by the club in question, as well as their association, over the previous five seasons."

oh i see.. so now i understand. I never thought that UCL looks at the head-to-head form first unlike in PREMIER LEAGUE. well if thats so, now my question is well answered. thanks for all the response.  thanks!!!

Nope, in CL they'll look at head-to-head first, then goal difference!

    Paul Garyan II:

If United & CSKA are tied on points they will look at the head-to-head between the two teams. Utd won CSKA once and drew once, hence we would have a better head-to-head and will qualify. So yes, we are through.

isnt it that they will look at the goal difference first ? only when the goal difference are tied then thats the time they look at the head-to-head form???
