by the way, this is just a suggestion....I think it would be great if we can have some sort of button next to our avatar or something saying "Send this person a message" or something like that...almost like youtube. Perhaps it might be easier, yet again it's only a thought

Yes you can send them private messages if they are added as a friend.  You just go into your profile, go the favorites tab and then click the icon on the right of your friend and you will presented with a message box for you to enter your message into.

If you want to add a friend then just clik on the Favourite box of the person you want to add and select the option to add them as a friend.

Guys this is normally done from within your Profile, but there is an issue with the Edit Profile option at the moment. The IT chaps are looking into this. In the meantime we are logging the issues and will then report back when we know where we stand on a fix.
