I can understand how he feels. He should blame Benitez for not signing Owen (correct me if I'm wrong, Owen tried approaching Liverpool also, but denied by Benitez). Owen had score his fifth goal for Man UTD in recent CL match. It proves SAF has his good vision signed Owen for free, despite, at that time many people (including some of our fellow members in this blog) said that it was a wrong signing. 

Go, go, Gerrard go, go to Benitez and said to him, "YOUR PREJUDICE ON OWEN IS COMPLETELY WRONG" !!!!!!!!!! 

 

It could be that it's painful for him to see an ex-liverpool legend wearing the red of united. Or it could be that wily ol' Fergie managed to snap him up for free. Many would've written him off at the start of the season but have you noticed how many are talking about him rejoining the english squad. Who would've said that when he was at Newcastle.

 Besides, it wouldn't be the first time there's been a switch of allegences between united and liverpool. Remember Paul Ince anyone? But it's always nice to see an ex-liverpool legend playing in a proper red shirt for a change.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard admits he doesn't like seeing former teammate Michael Owen running around for Manchester United.

The pair came through the ranks together at Anfield.

And Gerrard told FourFourTwo magazine: "I don't like it. It's weird and doesn't look right.

"I played with him in the red of Liverpool since I was 10, so to see him in the red of United is difficult for me.

"Obviously it was a chance he needed to take so I wish him well personally - but I do not want United to do well at all."

True. But I don't think you can knock a player for showing loyalty to his club - we knock them enough when they don't. 

If you watched football for a long time, you might have read about the approach for Gerrard from Chelski, and he turned them down so I can see where he's coming from.

Put it this way, if Giggsy/Scholes/Neville said they hate seeing, say, Becks in a pool/city shirt and people start saying who cares what they think, you'll be offended.

Gerrard's statement just goes to show you how much of a threat Owen is and how good he perceives United, if either player or club are insignificant, then he wouldn't even waste his breath.

I think the most surprising thing about us signing Owen is that Rafa didn't sign him up first. Liverpool so need a striker to fill in when Torres gets injured, and Owen would clearly have been a great buy for a club that is, according to Rafa, always short on cash.

No doubt Owen would have gone to Liverpool given the choice, so Gerrard has got nothing to complain about. His complaint can only be with Rafa who quite clearly dropped the ball on this one.

he know owen is dangerous... owen is better than voronin, babel, benayoun... babel 11.5 millions, voronin freee. n benayoun 7 millions.... so i guess owen is worth 18.5 millions..... but we get him freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.......  benitez is stupid. he does not want michael owen, then owen was sold  to real madrid.. benitez brought josemi, morientes, nunez, cisse but no one of them can replace owen.... now, the will play in europa cup n posibbly without their stupid manager.....

He knows Sir Alex is 3 steps ahead of Benitez and the difference between them is clear and he can see this....i mean United get an LFC legend who if given chances (more than one it has to be said) will score you goal and you know what you get from him and his name is Owen and he didnt cost a penny......while on the other hand his manager gets a player on a free, who cant score if he lived in Amsterdam and his name is Voronin.

That is the difference and poor old Stevie knows it aswell.....so this is only bitter words from a bitter man....dont worry Stevie, the Europa league is awaiting you with open arms.
