Without doubt he should be our top transfer target - he is proven world class quality and at 31 is at a prime age for a goalkeeper. VDS is knocking 40 and is still a better option than Foster and Tommy K. We could get 6 or 7 seasons of top class goalkeeping out of Buffon. I cant see what the fuss is about Akinfeev he looked a good shot stopper the other night but his kicking was bad and he is not tall and imposing - signing him would be no better than giving Foster another chance to prove himself.
Foster is as good as any of the other young goalkeeping targets we have been linked with. We need a goalkeeper who can step in straight away and have the confidence of the back four that only comes with experience - Buffon would be a Cantonaesqe signing i think but Fergie has already said Foster is the future so we wont sign anyone. We all get giddy on these boards about players we should sign but the signing of Owen after racking in 80m from the Ronaldo transfer shows that the 30m we spent on Berbatov was the last time we will be spending big money for some years if uncle Malc has anything to do with it.
