wearing my utd badge and poppy with pride at the match on sunday

    I will too.

However, I believe that the very thing that all those great men and women (of every nationality) fought for during the World Wars - freedom - is the thing that should prevail here.

Would they have wanted the "nanny state" to tell everyone they had to wear a poppy? Surely not, they would have delighted in the freedom they had won us to decide for ourselves.

I don't see United's (and Liverpool's) decision in the same light as you I am afraid because clubs should be entitled to choose their own form of remembrance - either decision is fine by me.

ALL AT UNITED SHOULD BOW THERE HEADS IN SHAME.

Not wearing a poppy does not mean you do not care. Everybody can show their care in different ways. Grow Up.

May today be better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow

    Red apple with black dot?

Why are all managers wearing these on their suits? What's the meaning of this emblem?

    Oh you're so clueless..

Of coarse United have respect for rememberance day. They will wear black armbands and have a one minute silence. SAF and the coaching staff will probably wear the poppys. To say everyone from United should bow their heads in shame is just pure ignorance. It's a commercial thing, you're just making a big deal out of nothing.

People who jump on the Daily Mail bandwagon really annoy me.

And why do you feel the need to write in all caps?

look, its not like we're neglecting it completely.. all staff will be wearing them and we sell them in and around all the clubs and stores. we support all army causes and take injured and returning soldiers around old trafford and bring them to games and such..

im diasappointed that we have decided not to wear the poppies, but i dont think its the end of the world, everyone knows that we all aknowledge it, i dont have a poppy.. but i donated and i will be doing my silence..

i dont understand the decision, but i'd rather just get on with it.

You hit the nail on the head....................to ware a poppy is up to the individual not the collective.

50,000 Irish men & women served in the British Army in the 2nd World War, 7,000 died. There are Irish soldiers serveing in Iraq & Afganastan today, (The Royal Irish Regiment & The Irish Gaurds). You might want to take out your old history books before you start throwing digs like that again.

manc60: Telling people what to do is either Fascism or dictatorial take your choice, it is all about expression: waring a poppy doesn't make someone more patriotic and not waring one less patriotic...labels are for fools. Sport and politics should be kept apart otherwise it becomes propaganda.
