Im not convinced by rodwell, I dont see what all the hypes about tbh.

18 year old in the starting team of a decent side. He shows good qualities to improve and he's getting the prem minutes.

He is only in the team due to an injury to Phil Neville

but I do think he could be a great player in the future and I would like him to join our club

    Re: Lets be realistic

I do not believe that we will acheive the signing of any player in Jan or maybe even come the summer, maybe a CB, but ....

1 - You are assuming £30 + million for Silva and £40 + million for Villa..... how reliable are your figures.... plucked out of mid air I would suggest, Valencia have a target of generating 44 million euros from player sales this season, to my knowledge that is the only figures Valencia have disclosed.

2 - Silva wouldn't be restricted to play on the left wing, infact he regularly plays in centre mid, where he is most effective and would be an ideal replacement for Scholes, orchestrating the midfield, picking off passes and through balls.

3 - There is no way we would pay £40 million for a 27yo player? Just over 12 months ago we paid £31 million, and for a 27yo player of a far, far lesser calibre,

4 - You start by saying  about people posting who they would like us to sign! then go on to advocate the signing of 2 players, as you state it is an opinion you are giving as is everyone else, why is yours more valid and why should everyone else suffer your lambasting.

5 - You ask not to sign Silva so to allow the development of Obertan, this can expanded to all our youngsters and any potential signings....

firstly it hasn't stopped us in the past, and in fact Obertan presence could be said to be impeding the development of Cleverley....and the players you advocate would likewise impede the path of our youth, what is the difference, apart from Obertan has caught your eye, none!

secondly you can only apply youth development up to a point, like it or not, not all of the worlds greatest players are at our club or even eminate from our club, it is about balance, only players of great calibre should be brought in, Silva is one, SAF works with and sees our youth day in day out and give him a bit of credit he probably can spot talent when he sees it, do you not think that SAF will promote any player he thinks has what it takes!

Dont get me wrong im not taking anything away from the lad but I just think hes being overhyped. And the price tag people are putting on him is ridiculous.

Rodwell played great in the 2nd half, tested Van Der Sar on more than one occasion. Agree with the post though.

    Lets be realistic

I really do love looking at peoples comments on how we should sign every player in the world. Lets be honest most people think its fantasy football but unfortunately we can't play that game as we aint do have that luxury like our neighbours.
The big problem is it is actually finding players who are of the quality that utd need. It takes a special player to perform at this club. I personally think it is pointless buying players just to add numbers. We have some really bright young players and the last thing we want to do is prolong there development. For example many people are on the bandwagon of David Silva. I personally think that David Silva is a fantatsic player but if we pay 30 million for him then what happens to the development of Gabriel Obertan. I really don't think some supporters know how real football works. It is not all about buying players its about developing players. Another player who everybody is getting excited about is David Villa who i personally feel is a gem of a player, but in the real world he will not be signing for Utd. There is no way we will pay 40 million pound for another centre forward who is 27 years of age, as it is the policy of the club to buy players under the age of 26 years of age. I love this club and i would get no more pleasure than to see us continuing to blood young players the utd way.
I feel in a realistic world the only players we will be looking at are :
    1. Jack Rodwell- This boy at 18 is a real talent, did not have a great game yesterday but the potential is there to be a great alll round midfield player. Maybe we will be rushed into signing him earlier than we would want due to other clubs interest. But this is a Sir Alex Ferguson signing.
    2. Steven Defour- Rumours have been around that he is already on the wanted list. A really talented player who at 21 years of age would be great business for 15 million.
As i said i feel that the club is in great shape but we must be patient. I personally feel that we may not win the league this year but sometimes you have to take a step backwards to go two forwards.
    Glory Glory Man utd
