The problem is we play week in week out in our glorious premier league branded bubble where pundits and journalist telling us it’s the best league in the world, with the best football to watch and most exciting. People buy it. Yes it’s exciting, and the brand is sold extremely well around the world but the haert ans soul of it, the football itself is nowhere near the best to watch and certainly not the best technically compared to Spain.
English football from the roots is not coached in the same way as it elsewhere like Spain. There's always been a certain level of kick and rush mentality in this country and we've never produced enough players, or a team of players who are naturally comfortable on the ball to achieve success at international level. Our perception in this country of players comfortable on the ball and having good possession is very different from Spain’s idea, we've seen that for ourselves in europe.
Although it's being found out a little by the best players in the world not wanting to come here or leaving England, as long as money is still being pumped into the Premier league product , we will continue to get sold a myth that it's the best, and players will continue to be paid stupid amounts of money that doesn't warrant the quality we're actually watching on the pitch.

It has absolutely nothing to do with philosophy and everything to do with the weather. A spanish style of football won't work in English weather. Personally, I find the fast pace of English gameand the physical nature of it to be more appealing. Only one team in spain is really fun to watch and that is Barcelona, the rest don't have a style per se and are either not technical enough to pull of that style of football in an entertaining way or too individualistic like RM.

I have to agree with you. FC Barcelona or Real Madrid wouldn't get humiliated by Wigan Athletic like we did. (Or, at least, they probably wouldn't.) Wigan played very well, there is no denying that, but we were shocking. Put it this way, we need to bring in a few big players (not ones like Phil Jones, who's good, but not great) and just improve. I'd play Hernandez more often (despite his poor performance against Wigan) and get rid of Rafael (who has been poor in the last few matches I've seen him play in.) Hoping for a Barca-Real final and that Real stuff them, 'coz, despite disliking Ronaldo's decision to go to Madrid, I don't mind him and I can't stand many of Barca's players (for example Mascherano) 'cox they do cheat. (Then again, we've been very lucky in the last two matches with the decisions.)

Barca lost to newly promoted Hercules last season.... Burst your bubble their. Real Madrid the past few seasons have also had their fare share of blips and odd results.

So you would sell a player who has had a few off games? Wow I guess virtual reality and the video game world has really clouded your judgement on how it really works in real life.

Big name players dont always mean sucess.

You're overexaggerating. Premier league may not be the best, but its up there. It depends on what you are basing it on. In terms of quality of football. La liga is better and its no wonder that the top players in the world play there. There is no doubt in my mind that the two best teams in the world arein spain.Spain is dominating eurpe. In terms of excitement and competitiveness , premier league and bundesliga are the best.

I agree we need that but the league is our bread and butter. In 99 Fergie said during the clf that he was preparing a speech when we were 1-0 down, along the lines of 'look we have had a good year we have won the double for god sake'. He does want the champions league and he goes out to win it thats obvious! In 2008 i didn't think we were the strongest team that could win it, in fact not even the top 3 but we did. So many factors come in to winning the champions league that are out of his hands, Barca have been amazing but thats about the height of it from a la liga side. Chelski(maybe arsenal aswell) and us have been alot more consistent than madrid. We had a blip this year it will pass.

Also i take the idiot comment back you have the right for an opinion, i didn't mean it and was just being an idiot myself.

When do you see messi, villa, pedro, di maria tracking back, never. Thats not their job! Very negative! FYI, Ronaldo scored 42 goals for us in the 2008 season!
in the league? fs you named the thread. A division one player could be top scorer in the fa cup does that mean it is a better league than Spain! Im not gonna argue about wingers and you should know better(united have the best ones and always have) what it takes to be one. The early days of Ronaldo he was made to by Fergie and he developed him in to an attacker often he would be the player that a head of Rooney with whoever the striker would be.

All im saying is, we need to be building a team to win the champions league! Fergie will say it himself when he retires, that we should have won more champions league trophies! 3 is not enough for a club of Utd's stature!

I don't understand what is wrong with you bitter english people, maybe other leagues has success on continental competitions, but that no means that they are best, years ago, in Mexico we can see only "la liga" matches and europe competitions, now, we can see (well, some lucky people with satellite tv) "la liga", EPL, bundesliga, "serie A", netherlands... and I can say that to you, all of them except maybe for the "farza" (spanish charade word for "barza") and "mandril" (spanish baboon word for "madrid" haha) are booooriiiing!!!, the english footbal are a pleasure to the football fans, quick, strong, offensive, non cheating. so, don't be bitter, you have the better league on the word, the others, well, they play only to win...

BTW, stop calling "worst team in decades" to United.

so the year Liverpool won the champions league and finished 5th in the league the quality of the premier league must of been awful. That was a year were we finished 3rd with players such as RVN, Keane,Ronaldo,Rio and well you know most of the rest.

I think Barca/Real are that good and they can easily beat teams 5/6 to 0.. As you can see Messi has more goals then games in Champions League. It is not the EPL alone where he scores. This season if Gomez doesnt make a miracle against Madrid it will be his 4th goal scoring title in CL. I am pretty sure Messi will score 30+ easily in EPL;.

Imo Messi is the better of the 2 but is he 10+ goals a head of Ronaldo?...no! i actually consider Ronaldo to be the better at taking chances and he did that in the epl league of course but no where near as prolific as hes been in la liga. The champions league point is good though, i really have just been watching it from a distance so you have me there.
