I don't agree on that, I once got banned on another forum for having a go at someone who said that the sport of football (soccer as he put it) was a stupid game and I should watch "real" sports like Basketball and Baseball. I then went on to tell him that he was an idiot and questioned how 2 sports that involve no contact whatsoever could be defined as "real sports". He reported me and I was banned simply because I called him an idiot. Some people just annoy you with their moronic ststements and you get caught up in the moment and lash out. I would be annoyed if in response to some idiot saying our club would be better when Sir Alex retires I would get banned from this forum, considering I consider myself a hardcore fan and that guy clearly had the memory of the goldfish, I would be very annoyed indeed. In certain cases where you simply disagree with something I agree you should not maraud someone with insults but in other cases you should. That's how idiotic trolls get people suspended in other forums.

The problem is alot of people take the internet too seriously. Instead of not replying to something they think is stupid they would rather ridicule and insult you, knowing there aren't any consequences becuase they're sitting behind a comptuer screen.

Stand idly by while the stupiditys reign isn't the best of ideas either. It works when everyone knows it's stupidities like when leza wang is posting but not so efficient when a normally good poster gets it wrong or when someone gets other posters to believe in ***.

But starting by explaining why it's stupid instead of jumping straight to insults wouldn't hurt though :P

IMO this is a never ending debate ...

both "sides" have good arguments ... many of us experienced some bashing ... and many of us had the moment of craziness

that's the way it is, and that's the way always will be ... at least here

but that's not the reason someone should feel attacked. we can't ALL agree on everything. thanx G we are not Borg

and all of us have a different approach, some of us will be nice explaining things, someone will go direct and send the F word. it's normal.

it's very OK to admit the "mistake" or to present better arguments than others.

yes. this forum can be better organized (never ending story too) to avoid that kind of clashes, but then this boards will be very BORING

transfer season is in full swing, there will be a lot of humor 'till the end ... try to enjoy it

In fact I never directly responded to the guy who mentioned his nephew, I responded to Mikael Larrsons post and in no part of that post did I say or imply kids need to "man up" (that was another poster).

That poster's specific comment, on his nephew, started a discussion on the general subject of treating people with decency, in light of the fact that some of them might be children. Subsequently you made statements regarding child activity on this site, including the following: "Well if they are going to get bothered about being questioned on their opinion, then posting on a discussion forum is probably something they should not be doing." That would certainly seem to imply an attitude that they should "man up" or, as you said, not be on a discussion board.

Every statement you made on the subject put the onus on the children or parents to essentially deal with whatever treatment they receive while on this site. I simply feel that a decent person would sympathize with the notion that children shouldn't be subject to humiliation and/or abuse on here.

I think people can accept a debate or someone else disagreeing, what i think the major problem is and has been is people dont respect eachothers opinions enough and inturn causes arguing and users not wanting to come back on etc. I agree everyone deserves an opinion but there is ways to voice it in a proper way i think mate.
