i agree with you but who should be looking for i honestley thin nuri sahin he has bags of talent and wasnt appreciated at madrid am sure if come to man unted he whould fit perect with any one of our other average cm expect scholes and kagawa

Fletcher will never be able to play regular top flight football again, and Anderson has a lot to prove this season otherwise he'll be out the door. It's bad at the moment, but looking ahead to next Summer we'll have Scholes probably retiring (unfortunately), Giggs hopefully retiring, Anderson sold if he hasn't stepped up, Fletcher will still have his disease and won't be able to play. Which will leave us with Powell and Cleverley, with very little experience between them at the moment, and Carrick, who's past his prime and will only get worse with age, because there's no way he'll be able to maintain a level suitable for the Prem into his late 30s like Scholes and Giggs have.

Petrucci may be the answer but not in the short term, if he's to come good it'll take a couple of years.

Powell is not ready for it, and neither are our other youngsters. My friend I....erh...understand how you feel haha! And there is really nothing you can do to convince them otherwise. Eitherway, @thread, I am pretty confident/I hope that SAF knows we have some problems that needs to be address in this area. I believe he is just finding it hard to find the perfect player to add to this role. Sorry, that is the best I could do in my...erh... defense of SAF lol!

its not that bad of a problem really..... yes it would be nice to buy someone big but we wont leak goals if we dont.... im confident that next summer will be the time we buy CM

Tunnicliffe is a kid who needs to be starting in Carlng cup and FA Cup matches, not thrown into the Champions League. Same with Powell and Petrucci. Why are you all so happy to throw away an entire Champions League season hoping Maybe Anderson will come good? Furthermore, what if Carrick gets injured? We should not be letting Liverpool take one of the best CMs available, to throw detriment of our Champions League chances.

It seems Ando is on one last chance hence we havent brought yet. I think by next summer we will know more about Fletch on whether he can come back and whether Ando has taken his chance.

TBH there havent really been that many top CMs available.. key word here "available"... Modric, Allen and recently Sahin are the main decent CMs available and Allen wanted to link up with Rodgers (I can understand that), Modric only wants Real and Sahin turned us down last summer and could possibly turn us down again, eitherway he is just a loan. Appart from them there havent really been any top class CMs available, looking for a move or clubs looking to cash in. Moutinho seems to be staying put, Martinez is staying put, Strootman is staying put.. The only one who could move still is M'Vila and who is to say we arent interested? We just dont know.

I agree. I really hope that Fletch makes a full recovery but even when fully fit would not be my first choice in CM, he maybe would for some games to rotate the squad but a fully fit squad he would only be on the bench. We need a world class CM that's why these message boards had record posts over the last 2 years talking about Schneider and Modric. I'm not saying we should buy one of those now but we need someone of that standard and I'm afraid its not Anderson.

it looks like we will play 4-5-1 and 4-3-3 most of the time this season... by the looks of it.. tom cleverly, carrick, scholes and anderson are our options in CM.. they all can do a job there..

We have Carrick, Scholes, Anderson, Cleverley, Fletcher, Giggs and i think Powell. We will 100% address this problem next season when both Giggs and Scholes retire but until then i don't see us buying a CM especially since we will play every game 4-4-2 and with only 2 CM's needed.

Carrick: good player, can play every match.
Scholes: good player, will probably not be able to play every match, especially during busy times with CL and whatnot...
Anderson: Very injury-prone, might not be able to get many matches this season either...
Cleverley: promising player, could be injury-prone though, too early to tell... hope he will have a injury-free season
Fletcher: Like I said earlier, he might never come back to hes old form.... And I'm pretty sure it will at least take some time
Giggs: Please ! don't let him play in the CM.... He was horrible there last season
Powell: Would like to see him playing next season, but I don't think he will get much play-time

So you can see.... Carrick is the only player that you can really "trust" in playing every match and producing the quality needed.... I hope I'm wrong, but you have to prepare for the worst, certainly after what happened last season with injuries....

SAF obviously has to go into the season thinking Ando and Cleverley will stay fit for the majority of the season. That would leave us with four main midfielders in Carrick, Scholes, Cleverley and Anderson, with the likes of Giggs, Powell and maybe Fletcher as back-ups.

If we were to get 1 or 2 midfielders this Summer and Ando and Cleverley were to stay fit, where would that leave them, or the midfielders bought in? We'd have way too many. At the moment, four midfielder with three back-ups is more than enough and unless we were to sell, I can't see SAF bringing in a midfielder this Summer. Could be wrong though.
