I actually this Chicharito will play since our 4-2-3-1 formation can convert to a 4-5-1 therefore he's better at playing offside and making runs behind the back four

Re: The team to stop City.

I'll do this from two different persepctives, one what I think Fergie will do and the other what I would like us to do.

The team I think Fergie will go with is De Gea, Rafael, Evans, Rio, Evra, Valencia, Carrick, Scholes, Giggs, Rooney and Welbeck. You know Fergie will want some steady heads and he'll keep the 4-4-2. I think Valencia will be given a license to roam and to really hurt Clichy. Welbeck will offer assistance down the left because of his work rate and Rooney will graft the top by himself for large parts of the game. This will allow Giggs to help out in the middle to combat City's three in the middle. In terms of consistency Fergie will want the same back four and I think Evans will pull through.

The team I would like to see play though, in the 4-2-3-1, would be De Gea, Jones, Evans, Rio, Evra, Carrick, Scholes, Nani, Rooney, Young and Welbeck. I think that particular front 4 could all interchange to varring degrees of succes, with Scholes and Carrick controlling possesion. For me, Rafael was suspect against Everton and with no Valencia would be vulverable so Jones gets the nod, with Smalling lacking that bit of sharpnish. The reason I haven't chosen to start Valencia is the same as Hernandez, I think they can be full of dread from a bench of Amos, Rafael, Smalling, Giggs, Cleverley, Valencia, and Hernandez. Lets make no mistakle this isn't going to be a clash of the titans display, it's going to be a hard grafted 1-0 nil and containment will be the key. We haven't got a grafter and I don't think Jones has the guile to hold the position yet against what will be a maiddle three of Yaya, Barry and Silva/Nasri.

I have no doubt that we can collect 3 points here and if we were to get a point it could still be considered a result. Worst case scenario we lose but the Newcastle game could still be difficult for them. Still think we can win the league even if we lose!

The team to stop City. We cannot allow City to dominate the centre of the park, in paticular Yaya Toure, we cannot give him time on the ball, which allows him to charge forward opening up space for the likes of Silva, Nasri, Aguero and Tevez to rip us apart, they can all do a pretty amazing job at that without Yaya's surging runs, but if he dominates, then we're definitley in trouble.

I'd go for a 4.2.3.1 formation, my two central midfielders would be Carrick and Jones, I know.... no Scholes? well for me it's just not the game for him, we need all the energy we can get, tackling ability and positional play are key here. I'd then have Rooney playing in the hole and dropping back into midfield often giving us those extra numbers we need. I'd play Young out left, and he'd be given the role of cutting inside often, linking up with Rooney and Co, on the right it has to be the work horse Valencia, and then up front, I doubt this will be popular either but it's Chica Hernandez, he's the best counter attacking striker we have, and with Rooney doing a job deeper, we're going to be reliant on his speed and his poacher ability to get us a goal or two.

In defence, it's Rafael, Evans/ Smalling, Ferdinand, Evra. Rafael needs to have a Ribery type game and really keep Silva at bay. I see the key men tomorrow as Rafael, Carrick, Jones and Rooney, if these guys have bad games, even one of them? it might cost us the league.

Re: Starting Man United againt City?

Why would you create another thread you ***

Re: Starting Man United againt City?

4 - 2 - 1 - 2 - 1 Formation,
