But we did give City all the initiative! And Park was a clear miscast against Yaya. I see yr point when it comes to Everton, but a 2 goal lead @ OT should not depend on that.

The fact that we even had to play 5 man midfield against them showed that our elder statesmen Scholes and Carrick cannot deal with opponents with loads of pace. This is something we have to fix in the coming season.

city at the ittihad are favorites, so playing a 5 man midfield was the right call. They should have practiced defending set-pieces better. on another day we could have easily snatched a draw. it's not like they had many chances in that game. Mike Dean giving 5 minutes was ok given it took as much for Barton to hit everyone in the shittihad on his way out. The ammount of points we ammased this season say we did very well, especially given our young players, injury problems and lack of spending in the summer. we lost the league because our young players couldn't handle the pressure. they will no repeat everton next year because that's what United do, they grow. throw in a couple of quality signings and a bit more luck with injuries and the title next year is ours. Bel20ve and be thankful we didn't end in 6th like chelsea when that's where we would have ended with pretty much any other manager in the world of football. In SAF I trust. long live the Sir.

Re: ManUtd.com Match Tracker messageboard for Sunderland vs United

nunoproenca:

I'm not saying we should have gone all out at Etihad. you're just being results oriented. The moment when we picked the wrong tactics was not subbing scholesy out for a more defensive midfielder against everton. The city game we would have lost by a far greater margin had we gone more attacking. only one team didn't lose there this season and you think going with an attacking formation was a better option?? we lost the title when vidic got his injury.

We lost cos we are a weak team! I just believe City have a stupid manager who is really incapable! cos any other manager with these players and resources should ve put the league to rest weeks ago!

But lets be honest, we only have Rooney and Valencia! our midfield is really depressing, and our defensive errors are just shameful ! Evra needs to be replaced, Carrick needs to be replaced by someone who has more to offer than just slow small quick response passes back (a Yaya Toure equivalent please), w needed Sneijder, and everyone know we did, we need an attacker that is really world class to accompany Rooney (welbeck and chicha are very inconsistent) and we need to SPEND MONEY to get those type of players we need, and give them the money they want! especially cos City are still going to spend more and more next season on players! they are not settling for the team they have!

Re: ManUtd.com Match Tracker messageboard for Sunderland vs United

nunoproenca:

If we can single out ONE moment where I think we picked the wrong tactic, it was precisely at Etihad by fielding a defensive squad.
All blame is ours. We were winning only 1-0 and being outplayed, city were able to score more goals.

Yeah, we were barely hanging on. Its very disturbing.

Quite embarassing really. Goes down however to key games, like Everton, Wigan, Blackburn, and that period where we had a run of easy games and city hard ones, but failed to mend the goal difference. We've been talking about money buys players but not mentality, but clearly city have had a better team and mentality, it's an argument we can't make no more.

There's nothing embarrasing about it. We LOST the title. Perhaps it was a good thing that it was to City so now maybe the players and the staff will take their games more seriously next season. UNITED must lose in order to pick themselves up and start all over again with renewed belief. When Chelsea took the title away from us we brushed our selves down and started again stronger and better. We nearly did it on the last day BUT we had to rely on another team which is not the UNITED WAY. We did not play well enough and took our eyes off the prize three games ago. United will feel the hurt and come back stronger than ever to compete against City and Chelsea, Tottenham, Newcastle, Arsenal, etc because City will not have it all their own way next season. The end of the game with few minutes left was contrived enough to allow QPR to know that Bolton were drawing. Had Bolton been winning there is no way that City would have scored two goals. That is football, and them is the breaks...sadly we didn't get to capitalise so next season we must play our games and be more ruthless. This year, at times, we were tooo casual

We were able to rise to those Chelsea challenges because we had quality in our squad; Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo were formidable attackers. In Rio and Vida we had the strongest defence. It's obvoius we lack all this now, so dusting ourselves may be hard unless we do the impossible, add quality to the squad. Rooney is a decent player but making him our most important player is hanging the team on a thread. Mentioning the midfiled will be cliche. We have had an arrogant attitude in the team and fans, that we'll win the league just because we have a better history, and have experience and better mentality than anyone else, and that we don't buy but promote from within(might be so but has it helped us win so far except the class of '92) I don't think we'll be making those claims as of today.

Re: ManUtd.com Match Tracker messageboard for Sunderland vs United

desperad0oo7:

fanman:

Ferguson's Managerial skills this season absolutely SUCKED. you f***ing moron. the title was there for the taking BECAUSE of his managerial skills. only him would take the title battle to the last 2 minutes with a team a squad as weak and injury hindered as ours. get a f***ing clue, will ya?

Don't even bother with people like these. Their idea of "tactics" is buy every player that can score more than 10 goals a season and then play each game with a freaking 3 man defence, 3 man midfield, and 4 man striker formation. Truth is, it takes a tactical genius to take the Premier League down to it's last 5 minutes of breath with the amount of injuries we've had, especially Vidic's. Imagine City losing Kompany. They would've been out of this a long time ago.

Re: ManUtd.com Match Tracker messageboard for Sunderland vs United

fanman:

Ferguson's Managerial skills this season absolutely SUCKED. But no moaning, we had a our chances and we lost the lead against Everton and played quite poorly against Wigan, with complete lack of motivation.

Re: ManUtd.com Match Tracker messageboard for Sunderland vs United

COME ON UNITED!!!
