Hargreaves in squad against Man City!

Not sure if this has already been covered but I saw that Hargreaves is going to be in the squad for the game tomorrow!

Talk about hitting the ground running! If he plays it will be good to see how long it takes him to adjust to the pace!

So good to have him back fit. Can't wait to see him dictating our midfield next season!

I'm missing Hargo... It would be like a whole new signing if he could come to 80-90% of the player he was...

Hargo is a special player but sadly even if he comes back next season he wont be the same player as he was before.

He will be playing with some pain in his knees for the rest of his career and will be getting injections every day.

Instead of taking the gamble SAF should just buy another DM and 2 creative midfielders

You know what James. I better have Hargreaves back playing with United next season rather than playing him now and risking losing him even further up...as it is the season is drawing to and end and honestly Hargo's World Cup dream will only be a dream i suppose. Capello will not risk including him since he is seriously lacking competitive games under his belt.

Next season, i honestly think he'll be ready for action at the top level. SAF is taking the best decisions regarding Hargreaves.

Re: Hargreaves Not To Play Until Next Season?

Hargreaves is done IMO.  he has been training, but he has not even played a full 90 minutes with the reserves.  There has been articles about him still playing in a good amount of pain, and how bad his knees really were. if rest was what he needed to get well (a summer off) he would be told to rest and not train.  I just think its over for him.

IMO Anderson hasn't dissapointed in any area but actually scoring goals. His descision making is not consistant, but he is also a young player too.  so I expect that to get better with maturity much like Nani has gotten better there.  He is a lot scrappier and stronger then I thought and he has been very good at shuting down opposing midfield players.  I think he will come on strong next season, out of the group that we have in Midfield, He and Fletcher are the 2 key guys.  they will lead the charge in Mifield, very atheletic, very combative and lots of pace.

I know it's highly unlikely he'll play any time soon, but the last time SAF said something like this he started Rooney against Munich, so you never know.

Re: Hargreaves Not To Play Until Next Season?

I think it would take Hargo a few games to reach a good Premiership level and there just isn't enough time. He will be back next season, strong, fit and ready to go. Plus I actually dont want him going to the word cup. The same goes for the likes of Diouf and Obertan. I think their time will now come next season.

Yes we have missed Hargreaves this year. After the long layoff he cannot possibly be match fit so the presumption that we will not see him until next season is correct.

Hargreaves Not To Play Until Next Season?

I was really disappointed to hear this as Hargreaves is exactly the type of player we have missed over the last few games (as well as a decent back-up for Rooney, but that's a different story). He is exactly the kind of midfield enforcer we need, and more than that, he is a player who relishes the big games. At times in the last two seasons, it has looked like Fletcher has been out there by himself. Scholes and Giggs are legends at this club and always will be, but it is unfair to ask them to play week in, week out at this stage of their careers. But this situation has been thrust upon Sir Alex as Carrick continues to let us down on the biggest stages, Anderson has disappointed and Darron Gibson is still learning his trade.

I had really been looking forward to Hargreaves returning, it would have been like a new signing for us. Sir Alex hasn't exactly ruled him out of contention, but he did say the following about the situation - "It is difficult to say when Owen will be back... His training performances have been, but I think at the moment midfield is not an issue for us as we have plenty of alternatives". It's hard to say whether he has a lack of faith in Hargo, which I highly doubt. The most likely situation is that all of our games from now on are absolutely must win and he might not want someone as short of match practice as Hargo is likely to be. Unlike some, I am of the opinion that Hargreaves is far from finished and will have a massive role to play next season on what will hopefully be a much-changed midfield.

Ferguson mentioned him being on the bench for the Chelsea game and O'shea to be on the bench for the Bayern game. O'Shea played and then started against Blackburn. But where is Hargreaves? He didn't even feature in the thursday reserve game and wasn't in the squad against Blackburn. When will this man finally return?

Fergie said he may put one on the bench for Chelsea and one for Bayern, the key word being may (might)

I don't care if he doesn't return this season, I just want a fully fit Owen Hargreaves next season.

    Re: owen hargreaves

right owen hargreaves is a great footballer but you can't say he is just as good at passing as scholes do you actually watch united scholes range of passing is amazing not taking anything away from hargo he is great but his passing abilities cant be compared to scholes

Where is Owen Hargreaves - supposed to have been on bench for Chelsea game?  SAF never mentions him!
