Why are there so many rules? The message board is open to people of all ages, so there are stringent rules for the protection and benefit of all users. Also, this is the official Manchester United message board and its content must not damage the Club's reputation. The Club has set the rules and expects the users to follow them and the moderators to enforce them.
Do the moderators read and check through all of the content posted to the boards? No, the moderators only read the postings that the community members alert them to using the ‘report abuse' link, so if you do see something that offends you, or that breaks the rules in some way, you must alert the moderators if you think it should be removed.
Sub - Forums:
The message board is split into a number of sub-forums for different discussion subjects. Please ensure that you post your topics in the right sub-forum. Any threads that the forum moderators consider to have been posted in the incorrect forum will be moved to its correct forum and if applicable merged with an existing thread on the same subject. Any threads opened by members to ask where a thread has gone will be deleted automatically.
The sub-forums on Talking Reds are:
Transfer Speculation: News about players that have been linked or you think would improve the squad.
General United Discussion: This is for all the latest news to do with Manchester United.
The Opposition & Internationals: News about United's opponents.

Some of the sub-forums will have their own forum specific rules relating to the posting of threads and these can be found by visiting the Forum Rules thread in each forum.
The Forum Moderators can be recognised by the moderator badge (shown below) placed under their avatar.
There are two groups of forum moderators. The first group consists of the moderators employed either by the forum hosting company or by Manchester United directly. The second group are comprised of members from the Talking Reds community who have been invited to fulfil the moderator role directly by the club. At the moment these ‘volunteer' moderators are:
Both groups are responsible for ensuring that the forum rules, as detailed above, are adhered to. They will do this by either intervening when necessary directly in threads when browsing the forums or in response to breaches reported via the ‘Report' button (which is located on the bottom left of every post made on the forum).
The ‘Report' button can be used by any Talking Reds member to highlight any breaking of the rules. Please DO NOT use the ‘Report' button to report a user's message that you simply disagree with i.e. a user says they do not like a player and you disagree with their view! There is also no need to report a post simply because it is a duplicate of an existing thread or if it has been posted in the wrong forum. Misuse of the ‘Report' button could lead to posting rights being withdrawn.
The Club has set the forum rules and expects users to follow them and the moderators to enforce them.
