This may sound silly, but I would play Micheal Carrick at centre back along with Smalling, He likes to play just in front of the back four, so he could easilly fill in. Hes fit, strong, good in the air, and what you really need when playing at the back, you must be able to read the game from the back. and Carrick does this with ease, he always seems to know what going to happen early, so his reading is quicker than most. The only other one left is Johnny Evens, but hes not been very good this season, but then again, this could kick-start his season. Hes maybe worth a chance, But I'm sure, Sir Alex, will have this position filled as we speak, and as usual, with the right person.

I'm for chicharito.. and 4-4-2.We have to score more goals, since the defence will not be the strongest part.

                         Van der sar
rafael    wes     smalling    oshea(evra is injured)
    nani      scholes    carrick    giggs
           rooney     chicharito

and instead of the left flank (like against chelsea), now right flank should be more lethal.
fletcher looked tired with chelsea, he need some rest. I miss hargreaves a lot. Maybe will be better if berbatov starts, and chicharito goes as sub. in second half.. around 55-60 minute. When berbatov comes from bench he has no influence, he is not fast, he needs time to adotp and the final whistle is blown. as a matter of fact i would prefer Owen instead of Berbatov.

    Jamie1979:

No Rio or Vidic on sunday, gotta be a bit of a concern but i just hope he plays Wes Brown there and not Evans. Although prone to the odd error, Brown has always done well in big games such as this and im sure he would relish a start against the scousers. Evans is having a poor season and with this game now taking on extra importance after last night i think Wes is the best option. What do ya think Fergie will/should do?

Heard late last night on radio that fergie was quoted as saying that both Rio and Evans will miss the game at Liverpool due to not being fully recovered from injuries.

So, in that case, the options vs. Liverpool are:

    O'Shea     Smalling     Brown     Evra/Fabio

                        OR

    Rafael     O'Shea     Brown     Evra/Fabio

                        OR

    Brown     Smalling     O'Shea     Evra/Fabio

                        OR

    Rafael     Brown     Smalling     O'shea

*Evra took a 'knock' vs. Chelsea so hopefully he will be fully fit to start vs. Liverpool, otherwise Fabio or O'Shea at LB.

My username has nothing to do with the brazilian footballer Kaka
I've never really been a fan of his in all honesty

I would definately have Brown in there. I think physically Smalling can match Carrol and with Brown's experience and his reading of the game, they could form a very good partnership.

Any man can make mistakes but only an idiot can persist in his error

Agree with you're starting eleven..Brown should not start the game. I've think this is the best eleven VDS,Rafael,O'Shea,Smalling,Fabio(If Evra Not Fit),Nani,Fletcher,Carrick,Scholes,Giggs and Rooney...
