    Re: Obertan to Newcastle?

I think as a result of it not quite working for him when he does get a chance, he ends up trying too hard, instead of keeping it simple at first.

His biggest problem is that his head drops pretty quickly when things aren't working out for him, which again is all down to a lack of confidence.

A good loan spell would quickly get him past this lack of self-belief, and allow him to come back to United and show what he can do!

Watched Gabby on tour over the last few weeks and he is looking stronger and more confident this season - I wouldn't loan him as he is vital cover for both wing positions - also he's great as an impact sub with his pace against tired defenders

A player that is great at an average club is usually average at a great club

    Re: Obertan to Newcastle?

I don't even know if it's a confidence issue really. I mean whenever he plays for the first team he tries to hard to catch the eye in my opinion. He tries going on mazy runs and beating players down the wing and I'm not sure if a low-confidence player would be willing to do that. Regardless of performances in reserves, for a 22 year old it's generally first team performances which count and unfortunately for Obertan the majority of these have been eye-catching for the wrong reasons. I will be very surprised if Obertan ever makes much of a positive impact for Manchester United's first team. I'd love for him to prove me wrong.

But surely if confidence is the only problem then maybe its worth trying to help get his confidence up.

He has the potential and the talent... Its just building the confidence to unlock the talent to its best

Spot on, if this lad gets the right loan he will come back a very good player.  Some people are way too quick to write off young players.

Confidence is a everything in football, some players are full of it from the start, others need to prove it too themselves before anyone else, and once they do, the real player comes out.

Fans really should have a bit more patience with these lads!

If the general consensus amongst your own fans is that you aren't good enough then confidence is hard to come by. I think Obertan, Gibson and Bebe have all experienced this at some point in the last year.

Because the majority United fans are ungreatful cockbags.

And Obertan's and Bebe's transfer fees didn't have a 1, 2 or a 3 in front of the second number.

Well said the both of you. lol

    Not really.

The fans who watch him week in week out in the reserves and see what he is capable of...

Have you actually watched any of the reserve games?

Obertan was on fire during that and tbh Obertan has a lot of potential and is a good prospect.

However Obertans problem is his confidence. He has the skill, potentcial etc... but when it comes to games in the first team in the PL his confidence goes to tatters. For me Obertan needs a loan move to a team where he can be played in the first team week in and week out and actually improve his confidence.
