    Moyesy:
You need to experience failure to truly appreciate success.

Go back to the 1994-1995 Season. We had a great team, Hughes, Ince, Kanchelskis, Cantona, etc, but it was also the breakthrough season for the likes of Beckham, Nevilles, Butt, Scholes (Giggsys came a couple of season earlier), yet we finished the season with nothing!

We were in the Champions League, we finished 3rd in our group behind group winners Gothenberg and Barcelona.

We finished 2nd in the league behind big-spending Blackburn Rovers

We also lost the FA Cup Final to Everton. We won nothing (bar the Charity Shild).

We currently have a group of players of a very similar age to that class of '92 that eventually helped us bring amazing success to this club. I dont think it could have been achieved without the experience of losing. How it feels to lose, and how much it means to win.

These current players will now know how that feels. They will learn, they will grow and they will be better players becuase of this experience.

Rome wasnt built in a day, the current Barca team wasnt built in a day, the great Milan, Juventus, Madrid, Ajax and United teams of the past wernt built in a day.

This season may feel like 1 step back, just as the 94-95 season did, but the 95-96 season? We won the double. Thats the 2 steps forward!

Failures in the 97 & 98 Champions League (and 98 PL) may have felt like a step back, but everyone knows what happened in 1999, dont they! Thats was the two steps forward!

    Our time will come again!

Now this is a true UNITED fan!! a true display of knowledge about the game and what UNITED is all about! Great post!! WE BELIEVE!!! ONE UNITED!

If some do, then i will tell you, they will be shown the door!

This team is a long long way from being the finished product. If some dont have that desire to become better and to fulfill their potential they wont have a future at United.

Fortunatley, the recruitment process at United doesnt fall soley on ability. The personality of every single player would have been thoroughly examined before even getting close to the United 1st team.

True. But a personality trait that I dispise in all humans especially professional footballers is narcissism, this "look at what I can do, Im brilliant and I know it" attitude has no place on the pitch, that shite is Nani's downfall for example, I was *** right of last night with him trying to be the hero instead of looking for a pass, and I doubt he was crying or punching walls in the dressing room afterwards.

Fantastic post. I must admit I have been having a tough time seeing the positives in the current situation but this post could help. Let's hope that the team and the whole of united feels the same and show it on the pitch. My fears are the effect on the players when they have to play Thursday evening and then on Saturday afternoon....it's not sustainable I don't think. There is one positive about united in the Europa league. If they are tied against athletics Madrid I can watch them live (spending a year in Madrid doing my masters). All clouds have a silver lining
Wouldnt want anyone elses name on my shirt but Giggs
On the kelloggs building when the 99 treble champions came through town

Good post O.P.........But I cant help but feel there are a few players who will adopt an "ah well" attitude to this. Some of them should be genuinley ashamed of themselves for forgetting what shirt they had on last night. I agree about the looming success, and hopefully it will coincide with Barca's inevitable transitional period.

completely agree with u . but this season no breakthroughs r there . we r talking abt young generation . now youngsters r not getting games . then how can new era start ? still fletcher, park etc getting chance . several threads i have read - whenever some one slates fletcher , some will come and say he was one of the bests during 08-09 season . we r talking abt 11-12 and now next generation 12-13 or 13-14 !!! now europa is there . i hope ravel, pogba , petrucci , fryers etc will get their shots .

Excellent Moyesey. I like such threads. I agree with all you said mate. I don't see why people are threatening to commit su!cide. Why? They'll just miss the inevitable success(like we aren't successful enough). Having said that, let them jump.

but I agree with his point about the youngsters!
If they are not ready yet, their not ready!

The ones that are ready will learn from this and come back stronger.

You cant just adopt the United winning mentality. Its earnt, its developed. It takes time to build great teams.

I know Moyesy but and that's a big but what I mean with that is that I can't understand that they'll not even make the bench but someone like gibson does. the same goes for the carling cup, I think they should get their chance there and I mean with some starts!
