That may work however my team is more balanced your team is all out defence unless your playing Anderson as a Roaming player,Jones doing the shift he did vs Spain and im scared of Carricks consistency soo I feel Pogba would be the better option and its 3rd round Fa Cup so he deserves a game.

If Evans and Smalling are fit, i'd play:

    Lindegaard

    Smalling Evans Ferdinand Evra

    Jones Carrick Anderson

    Nani Rooney Welbeck

Your team is clearly not more balanced.

First off you have two similar CBs together in Smalling and Ferdinand where Steve has Evans and Ferdinand. Chris and Rio both enjoy sitting back and reading the game and breaking up play, where Evans (and players like Jones and Vidic) play at a faster pace and fly into challenges and use energy to break up the play. A good balance is essential for a good partnership. This is why Rio and Vidic have been so successful together.

Second you have Progba in midfield. An 18 year old unproven talent playing away at the best team in England in what will be an extremely hostile environment. Simply will not happen. You have also left out Carrick who has been our best midfielder this year in favor of Progba.

Also you're saying he is all defence, where he is proposing a 4-3-3 and you are proposing a 4-5-1. Can't see the reasoning there.

I like Steve's line up but I would rather see Rafael at RB. That would be my only change. I would really like us to play 4-3-3, a real 4-3-3 not the 4-5-1 that we usually play.

Although all this doesnt really have any significance, cos we will be easily outplayed in the midfield and outclassed by hard working motivated players (which city have at the moment) cos we are a complacent average players, the thing that irritates me the most, is how people keep talking about Pogba! I wonder, who ever saw him play, so that people would be calling for him, as if someone saw him & said he IS actually Patrik Viera!! maybe he is a hot prospect for the future, but certainly he needs a couple more years, and a year on loan or so, in order to be able to stand a chance!
    Untied till we die

Pogba will make the subs bench at best. If Fergie didn't feel he's ready to start a league game at home to bottom placed Blackburn, there is no chance he'll throw him in at City. Unrealistic to think he could start

My line up for City game and reasons.

First of all I feel we need to pack up our midfield so I have decided to go with a 451 formation. Lindegaard: He must start,he is stronger than De Gea in the air and more consistent, yesterdays match was not his fault. Rafael,Smalling,Ferdinand,Evra/Fryers:Our defence has been looking very poor in the last 2 games and I feel this defence will keep Man City at hand,Rafael is a right back so he should play there and that centre back is preety strong. Valencia,Anderson,Jones,Pogba,Nani:Valencia is stronger on as a attacker and most of the time keeps gaps in the right back position when attacking,Nani looks alot stronger on the left than on the right,Anderson needs a game and he could play as a roaming player,Jones is a star at centre defensive midfield and I feel he may do the sort of job at that position as he did against Spain,Pogba is a youngster who is very highly rated who could prove a difference to this match and he is a sort ot Yaya Toure player imo playing in centre defensive midfield with Jones. Rooney/Welbeck:Our strikers must be on point against City as were going to need goals, also these players could link the midfield and attack together one of them would do.

This is if Smalling is back of course.

And I've gone for DeGea over Lindegaard as I've seen more of him from his time with Athletico and he is a great shot stopper. And I don't think City will be lobbing many balls into the box. Lets just hope this time our defence don't decide to go walk abouts.

He has a lot of talent he does things that can't be taught

Re: Line up + Predictions against Man City FA Cup

I think a 4-2-3-1 absolutely must be played, with Carrick & Jones at DM with Smalling back at CB with Ferdinand and with Rafa on the right. Giggsy, Rooney & Nani behind Welbeck and we just MIGHT have a chance at winning it, but tbh I can't see past a City win, coming from one the most optimistic supporters Sad

    Jim21:
    ________Lindegaard

    Rafael Ferdinand Smalling Evra

    Carrick Anderson Jones

    ____ Rooney Berbatov

And that's when, what, someone gets sent off again? Stick out tongue
A player once tried to nutmeg Vidic
    He will always be remembered

Spot on! It is that or we are certain to be beat. Jones is not a centre back, and this is the area where we are conceeding. If Smalling isn't fit then I'd rather play Carrick there and bring in Giggs to partner Anderson & Jones. What is must though is that Valencia plays right wing.
