Re: January Transfer Window - Should We Spend?

If decent players are actually available then yeah maybe we should buy. But we don't need lots and we have a lot of defenders its just a shame most of them are injured. So I wouldn't panic buy a Defender. Maybe bring one in on loan, But an experienced defender like Albiol or just someone who isn't really getting a game at their club.

As for decent players I still think youthful players are the way to go.

    Rodwell

    Martinez

    ATTACKING

    Erickson

    Gotze

    Lucas

    Ganso

    Shaquiri

    Thiago

Modric would be my preffered choice. And I really don't want us to spend big on Sneidjer. I would rather take the risk on the youngsters unless they offer him for 20 MIL.

Alba or Cristico would probably be good options for LB as well. But Fryers looks like he will be able to push Evra.

He has a lot of talent he does things that can't be taught

! think that we are short in a few areas,I would like to see us buy a right back,a target man striker and a box to box midfielder with attacking flair. Welbeck is still not ready to be playing up front for us and should be sent on loan for the rest of the season.

I don't know about that... I mean I'm deeply disappointed by today's result just like every United fan, but giving away or selling De Gea is no option. We gave away two unfortunate goals - one due to a mismatched tussle and another due to a defensive error by Carrick who is not a defender. Things like that happen. De Gea can certainly be faulted for the third and he will no doubt have to up his game, but again, one goal out of three was due to bad goalkeeping. And calling his distribution shocking couldn't be further from the truth. At the same time I too have greater confidence in Lindegaard right now. Still, De Gea will become a top goalkeeper for us in the future, I'm sure about that (once he learns the language properly and bulks up a little bit, that is). Also, don't forget that losing to a bottom team is becoming our trademark these years. We'll still be champions in the end of the season.
I admit that de Gea has his weak points. But I think his performance this season is satisfying, he had many wonderful saves. The defense of back and mid is our fatal problem.

SAF.........I can't post on this forum, what's wrong??? I think we should spend on midfielders, because Rafel played as midfileder, you really want him to play as midfielder????

I have been a United fan for 45 years and it is obvious to me we need a quality central midfielder, like a Silva from City! We have enough work horses, but nobody with that extra quality to open up a tight defence! No problem with our wide players. Fergie didn`t buy Schneider, you could say he wanted to much money, but what did being knocked out of the Champions league cost us? Today loosing to Blackburn! For me, this is the poorest central midfield we have had for a long time.

I would say no need to spend, but sell or if necessary give away DAVID DE GEA he is a liability and will cost us the championship . Lindgarde is safe and solid has never let the team down and in my mind a top keeper , I have followed UNITED for fifty plus years and seen keepers come and go but never had so little confidence in any as I have in De Gea his display today was shocking, and his distribuition is always poor Hope Sir Al has a great night, my best wishes to him.

Should we? Yes, definitely. Will we? Sadly, probably not.

Of course we should, we need to. Will we is another question, unfortunately SAF has gone back to his default position of putting his tin hat on and is in siege mentality. But despite what he says it would seem we need a midfielder and a CB.

    Martinez and Alba.

I may agree with Martinez but Alba I don't, yes a good player he may be in the future, but we have no problems with LB, Evra is almost always fit, so Alba would struggle to get in the team for the first couple of his years at least! Alba can play wing as well I suppose, but our wings is probably one of our strongest areas at the moment, so would be no point in signing a left-winger! For me, we should be looking for RB cover or CB cover, depends really, Clyne is a possibility, shouldn't cost too much, and is young and potential, but more-so he seems to always be fit for Crystal Palace. Also, we do have cover for Left-back in Fryers, and Fabio when fit, and I'm sure we can always throw Evans and Giggs there in emergencies, but like I said, pointless buying someone in a place that seems to be stamped down!

Personally, I think if we are going to buy anything then it has to be in a position we are short in, RB/CB or failing in that a CM and allow Carrick and Valencia to move in the back-line more often and keeping Brady when he returns, so when Valencia is moved back regularly, we have players to replace those, it's an idea, whether it would prove a good idea, I'm not sure, but all I know is these injury problems are insane! and I suspect we will miss Rio, rafael and fabio, for many times in the season and be left very short at the back

The reason I chose a LB was because Evra has being slack on more than one occasion this season, he knows his position is not under threat considering Fabio can't keep himself fit for long periods, I think someone like Alba would really threaten his position.
oh right that's fair enough I suppose, however I think theres other positions we could do with before we get Alba, such as for our current injury problems and having to play Evra, Carrick in CB roles and Valencia at RB etc if Vidic hadn't have got this injury, then I would probably agree with Alba providing competition for Evra and having a battle at LB, but I think right now, our main concerns should be with our current problems, buying Alba wouldn't help our injury problems in CB and RB perhaps if we say buy Clyne in january and move to get Alba and Martinez for next summer, would probably be good!

If we weren't joint top of the league then I would say maybe. But soon (within two weeks) we will have Smalling, Evans, Rio, Cleverley and Young all back playing. That will give us some real good options inmidfield and defence.
