    Re: Igor Akinfeev, or Foster?

    snake689:

I signed Akinfeev in my Football Managers game, he would be a solid no1 and could easly take over from VDS but I think Fergie would look to Foster first before looking into signing another goalkeeper.

This is exactly the sort of *** that leads to endless, stupid transfer rumours on here. Football manager games are SIMULATIONS. I made myself as a character on there and I was awesome, scored like 32 in my first season from midfield. Why not sign me?

Base your future assessments on REAL performances.

By the way, you're all just assuming that we a) could and b) would sign him. There is no guarantee that he would either leave his team or would be wanted here. Ridiculous speculation once again, let's look at the squad we have. The real question you should be asking is; are either Foster or Kusczak capable of being our first team goalkeeper on a regular basis after spending so many seasons without regular top flight football?

    Mikael Larsson:

Georgia + Russia = Conflict of interests?

Akinfeev is know for 110% concentration all over the match and perfect movement. If you don't like him and want to complain then you could talk about how he boxes the ball most of the time even when it would be better to hold on to it.
Rest of him is 100% class and he would be a world class keeper for us during 10-15 years.

I mentioned Georgia in my post? How many matches with Akinfeev did you see?If you are Russian  patriot it is another type of speech, but Igor Akinfeev isn`t the keeper of the level of Man Utd.Moreover he costs giant money which can`t be reserved for better transfers.

man utd have always ha troble with there keepers ever since Peter Schmiechel left i believe vander sar is a very good kaper but age is chasing him rapidly. foster is a decent keeper but i dnt think he will be good enoth for man utd he will be better at a mid table team. just think he will not be good enothgh againts the likes of torres drogba robinho . where as akinfeev is a very good keeper he has the right frame of mind for man utd and will be a instant hit with the fans

    akinfeev 4 me allday thanx

I could be wrong but I think Foster played a whole season for Watford and so I think he actually has more experience than Kuszack in the EPL?

Unfortunately,I live in Russia and had to watch Russians`matches.I can say with big assurance that Akinfeev is a bad choice.Sometimes he makes mistakes, ans we shouldn`t spend much money when we have such good keepers as Kuszack,Foster,Zieler and Amos.

foster is best why we spend more money

He has not play much in the BPL yet. really have not seen him perform much..

A temporary replacement for VDS could be Kuszack, he has more exp compare to Foster..

See how much Fergie would play Foster this season, if he does well, he could replace VDS we he retires

    Re: Igor Akinfeev, or Foster?

Van Der Sar is a legend for us but hes getting on abit now and he dosnt know yet if this could be his last season or not. When he does retire we have Foster who is brilliant as his long term replacement which is good and then we have the likes of Kucszak and young Heaton to provide cover which is good.We have thre likes of Amos and Zieler in the reserves but they wont be ready for another 2 3 years yet so maybe we could sign another keeper someone like Akinfeev Hart or Carson or Neuer would be brilliant for us,i rate all these keepers very highly.

It would be good for the future if we can sign on e of these to battle Foster Kucszak and Heaton for the number one spot with Foster as our nember 1.

i don't think fergie would buy him just yet or any goalkeeper for now. he's got vds, kuszczak, foster and some more others in the reserves. i guess he would want to try out foster first since he's not been given a regular run out just yet and see how he goes first before making any other decisions.

    Igor Akinfeev, or Foster?

Van der Sar, one of the greatest keepers of all time has not much left from his career. We have good young goalkeepers like Foster and Zieler but maybe we should sign Igor Akinfeev. He is considered to be the greatest young goalkeeper talent these days. He's very young, very consisten, and he's got great composure. He's got good reflexes, he's good at crosses and corners, so everything...
