The game was won by SAF.

Arsharvin comes on for Arsenal, an out-of-form player without a defensive bone in his body. SAF switches it around 2 minutes later by putting Valencia directly up against him. Only ever going to be one winner in that!

Actually It was lost by Arsene Wenger! cos he did something absolutely retarded! Valencia was always on the right side, but for Wenger to take off Chemberlain, who had a really good game, and just put in Arshavin, who is very small (phsyically no match for Valencia) and soooooooo out of form, its just pure suicide! I mean its not creidt to SAF as much as its a suicidal moment from Arsene that just gave us an invitation to score!
Valencia moved to right back, directly up against Arsharvin, while Park took Vermaelan walkabouts.

Valencia at RW would have had Vermaelan to beat to cut inside, and you could bet it wouldnt have been as easy as Arsharvin made it.

As for Chamberlanes substitution, i think it was fully understandable. 18 year old kid, playing his first game of that intensity... i dont think it was ever intended for him to play the full 90 minutes, in fact, im sure his perfomance ensured he stayed on the pitch longer than anticipated.

Would it have taken for him to go down injured with a snapped hamstring before it was OK to be subbed off?

old man Giggs has to play the whole 90 - we bring a retiree into the team - when are the younger players on the squad going to wake up and realise they have an opportunity with the club. they should forget worrying about their contracts and agents and play hard. as Sir Matt would have said be successful on the field and the money will come to you.
    Amen to that
I don't totally agree with that. You can't assume young players aren't getting games because of lack of hard work. SAF does play favorites sometimes
    I also agree with that.
Welbeck was extremely poor today and the only positive thing he did was score that goal. He missed a sitter too when he was one on one and then again in the last minute. I have problems with the way we played. Sure we won but the skin of our teeth. Can anyone tell me why did we take off Rafael and bring on Park? I mean what did Rafael do wrong today that he was taken off and what DID Park actually do on the pitch today? Mike Phelan would still play better than Park today.
Im pretty sure dewolf is malunited as his arguments are exactly the same! why did you change your screen name?
I dont think Welbeck was "poor" I just think he wasnt concentrating enough! I mean, you have to give him credit cos he got himself in very good positions, due to his speed and good positioning, but its a shame he didnt convert any of the good chances he got or made himself. I guess you can argue that any other day, he would ve scored (one of the missed chances I mean), but on the other hand, had Arsenal scored a 2nd, we would ve blamed him surely cos he missed really good chances! Regarding Park & Rafael, SAF explained that he was afraid Rafael was gonna get sent off, and to be hoenst, I had that fear too. & Park is known to hassle opponents off the ball which we needed in the last couple of minutes, and it was used to a certain effect.

Welbeck and Rooney deserve to be subbed right now. Ten minutes left. We need goals.
LOL how would Welbeck have scored if we took him off?
Another striker might have had a brace so far, Welbeck and Rooney were both beneath average...
Agreed, until then Rooney and Welbeck looked lost.

This may prove to be one our most valuable wins, a hard fought game, the unfortunate thing is we haven't come out of it unscathed, Jones has ligament damage, Rooney, Carrick and Rafael have knocks.

I have no idea why rafael was subbed, maybe because when he went up arsenal cam down his flank while he wasnt their, maybe because he was on a yellow, who knows. He didnt deserve that. We were not very good tday against a poor arsenal side. But a win is a win. Valencia was good today again.
How about Park being part of the play the winning goal was scored on. Did you watch the game?

This is the first time in a while iv written on the forum but i thaught after a great win id return...............iv been struck by hw negative sum fans are....think about it we won away at aresnal, had more possession, craeted numerous chances plus missing young, clev, ando, vida, rio and jones for most game and as well as that after city sneaking a late winner the pressure was on..il admit van persie missed a great chance and we were wasteful but a win is a win and 3 points is where we were this morning and we were so nearly 1 point down but well enjoy the week now and the players will get a rest b4 liverpool nxt saturday while city nd liverpool slog it out in the carling cup..i fancy liverpool 2 take that so hopefully liverpool will b wrecked and have little time 2 recover while city will be out of another compettion..next game stoke at home while city head 2 everton so ud fancy us 2 win while citys is a potential banana skin....cmon lads we won away at aresnal just keep saying dat!!!!

Great and hugely important win. Rooney worked like an animal, Giggs was just class, Nani harassed Djorou, Welbeck was a handful, but my man of the match vote goes to Valencia. He was just tireless, kept on going and got his reward with one goal and the assist for Danny Welbeck. Great team spirit. Hope Jones isn't injured badly. Evans had a good match, so did Smalling, except that slip. Keep on producing such performances and we'll be hard to stop!

I dont want anything more than Utd winning. And of course, Danny Welbeck not tripping over the ball in crucial moments.
We win yet we still have negative comments... Welbeck is progressing, he is young and literally at th ebeginning of his career. Having people like you picking at every litle thing he does and telling him which hand to wipe with are not the sort of fans that will help him turn into a world-class forward.

He missed a couple of chances, one which was cleared off the line. But he scored the winning goal :) What more do you want? A hatrick?

yes, Joe Young, what is the chance that had Welbeck come off, we would have had another striker in the 6 yard box to score an open net goal... I gave credit where is due, now what is your issue???
