Oddly enough Manchester United has the most clean sheets in the PL this season with 12. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/stats/_/league/eng.1/barclays-premier-league?cc=5901
Yeah but we have conceeded quite a bit more than liverpool and more importantly man city. I think it is a real concern. We are a strange team. We either face a back and forth suicidal football when we have young midfielders like cleverley and ando together. Or when the likes of scholes/carrick/giggs play together we either have a lot of possession with less goalsoring oppurtunities, or we get completely overrun and gift away lost of possession (especially against newcastle). We really need to strike the right balance. arguably the best combo for that was carrick/jones but it was against easier opposition so we cant tell how effetive it is.

Completely agree! They used to say once United go 1-0 up expect more goals, though recently against Norwich and Ajax we seem to start off playing controlling, nice, quick play and creating a goal in the first 10 minutes, and then trying to see it out till half time. I'm not sure what the tactics are, but we need to attack more like we used to. Whether SAF is a little more cautious of over attacking and getting caught by a counter attack because our defence is a little weaker this year.... I'm not sure.

It's human nature to dislike silly goals going in, but you have to admit that this season has truly been a 'silly' season. The amount of goals scored in each game is bordering on ridiculous. What ever happened to those 1-0 wins? The Premier League final is not far away, bring on the big one at the Etihad!

Re: Sitting on one goal leads and not keeping Clean Sheets ..

Its been a common occurrence for the past season or 2 for United to go a goal up,then sit back, fall asleep, let the other team score, then panic and try to get a goal back, sometimes it works and other times it does not, lets be honest this is not the most exciting United team of recent times, but could u imagine if United were actually firing on all cylinders and not screwing things up for them self's by stepping off the gas when in front.

All the points United have wasted, are in games where their were just shocking, appalling,i can not remember Fergie having to apologize to fans so much because of the team performance in all my life. United sometimes can be to arrogant and expect to just show up and win.(i know i sound really negative, but it is what it is)

mmm i can taste the tears

i feel alot for De Gea too he had an amazing game yesterday but didnt get his clean sheet ultimatley
I wouldn't feel too badly for him. Imagine what a performance like that will do for his confidence. He didn't get a clean sheet, but it was his saves that won us that game. He was the man of the match in my opinion.
without a shadow of doubt,,he was superb "again",fair play to him,,another 2 fingers up to the doubters eh?

After we go 1-0 up it is expected of the other team to push forward and attack to allow us to counter. Recently that tatic has been misjudged and instead of going for the kill we sit back and allow them to get into the game too much. It feels that way recently against Ajax and Norwich.

Without Vidic, clean sheets are hard to come by. Credit to Evans and Ferdinand for some of their recent performances though.

Sitting on one goal leads and not keeping Clean Sheets ..

    Hello Readers,

I would like to make sure you know that this isn't a go at the players but rather a question as i remember quite alot this season we go one goal up and suddenly we dont have the ball for 30mins or longer, i wonder if you think SAF says before games get a goal and then we'll just counter attack or somthing but i find it very uneasy as a fan to watch us do this. It seems the league is tougher than ever too where even at a team like Norwich a goal seemed somewhat inevitable.

After the Man City game i believe we went on a run of 5 or 6 clean sheets which was pretty amazing, and being a bit OCD i love the clean sheets a 2-1 scoreline just gets to me for some reason hehe, anyway people talk about how United will hit you for six and keep going but since Christmas i have to say i havn't seen us go all out in any games i think the Wigan or Fulham 5-0's were the last time, i feel alot for De Gea too he had an amazing game yesterday but didnt get his clean sheet ultimatley it was a great shot but some complacency to allow the corner in the first place as scholes passed the ball right to their guy.

Remember i'm not having a go at the players i absoloutley love United it's what i wait for every week just wish against these lesser teams our conviction was greater.
