Re: A certain man called Leighton Baines

Fyers isnt ready yet.I rate him highly but a season on loan will do him a world of good.Plus isnt he still stalling on a new contract with us he might leave yet although i hope he stays if he does i would laon him out.I have high hopes for both Rafael and Fabion but they still have alot to work on with their defending and positional sense.Going forward they are fine but they need to concentrate on defeding as that comes first before anything else and plus they are abit injury prone aswell.Im not saying we should sign Baines but another LB wouldnt be a bad idea to provide more cover and competition.Evra hasnt bee at his best this season maybe its cause he plays in like every game for hes proberley exhausted and he sisnt getting any younger either so like i said another LB would be good for us and another RB aswell.I know Jones and Smalling can play there and have done very well but they are CB's they said themslves that while they are happy to play anywhere for us they want to be CB's which i think they will be in the future and with Ferdinand and Vidic not getting any younger either they wont play in every game either so we need Jones and Smalling at CB thats why another RB wouldnt be a bad idea either know what i mean.I hope i made it clearer for you guys.

fryers is still stalling on his contract I heard. We really dont want this prima donnas thinking they should be earning much when they havnt sorted their heads first. And putting Fryers ahead of Fabio is really not a good idea. the former has no experience in bigger games while the latter has been with us big games and small games as well. U can never buy experience!!! As for Evra, I honestly think at 30 we could sell him for a bit of money. Lets be honest the lad isnt going to improve at that age, its a downward spiral for me!!!!

Too old and not much room to grow as a player. Would much rather invest in someone younger.
What is the point in life if you don't at least try to do something remarkable?

As long as its not Evra who thinks he is playing as our winger then I'll be happy. I can't wait for Vidic to get back and take the armband! Evra is probably the worst captain we have had. Baines is a solid player but like many have said isn't young and not really fitting our long term transfer policy. I hope to see both Fryers and Fabio fighting it out on the left with Rafael and Jones fighting it out on the right!

I rate him, is always a safe bet on fantasy football. Not world class but if he's available for around £5m itywouldn't do us any harm. Having said that he's not going to get any better, is a loyal player to his club and probably knows he wouldn't be first team here.

I think he would be a great signing for us.I rate him very highly i really do but hes like what 27 now we prefer to sign younger players but i woulsnt mind seeing Baines here to battle with Evra maybe even replace him.I know we have Fryers but i dont think hes ready just yet a loan move would be good for him while Fabio is good but hes got lot to learn still the same goes for Rafael.Another RB and LB would be good for us and also sign another midfielder like Martinez/M'Vila etc and another creative forward like Eriksen Hazard etc then we will be sorted. If Owen and Berbatov aswell then maybe another striker would be good.I do think we need to make some changes to our squad so maybe we might in for a busy summer who knows. Our squad is good but there is always room for improvement and SAF did say that he wants to have more pace in his squad so who knows.

a left footer gives us balance down the left hand side with the LB whipping in quick crosses and being direct, Young and Nani are very much two footed so its not really a problem. Im not saying lets get Baines, im just stating that he would be a good buy and give us more protection than Evra.
yes defo see what u mean, and i was just mentioning baines because other people were saying not saying you said m8 :)

maybe, but i am saying when he retires meaning like he is 30 right now most players retire age 35 so after 5 years, what won't fabio be good ? he will be because those years united will help him develop like they always do and make players sjoe their potential and ability, also evra may even stay alot more longer cause at age of 38 roberto carlos still plays, very fit and healthy alot of pace, even with evra he has never shown slower movements he has been quiclk with a fighting spirit. also what does right foot have to do with being a LB, LWM nani and young are right-footed, oh lets sell them ??? come on m8 have some faith in your squad rather than people saying lets get baines when he is 27 and same people talking about united's transfer policy age below 25 or something. if want a LB badly try a lot more younger targets lol
I totally agree. We don't need baines, we have evra who may be slowly declining but is nevetheless wc. Fabio and rafael are both capable of deputising at lb, and we have zeki fryers, who looks solid and could well be the next england lb after cashley.
It's so simple to be wise; think of something stupid to say and don't say it

Fabio and Rafael have been here 3-4 years and still they are struggling, both aren't great defensively and need to sort their positioning out. When they both play well thats even worse, they aren't really full backs imo more wing backs or wingers. Evra has declined I doubt he will be playing regularly at 35, hopefully Fryers will have taken over by then. Right foot has everything to do with being a LB, a left footer gives us balance down the left hand side with the LB whipping in quick crosses and being direct, Young and Nani are very much two footed so its not really a problem. I don't think we need a left back at this moment in time. We all know that Evra is going backwards, whether that's due to age catching up to him or something else we don't know. But he is getting poor at defending and attacking isn't too great right now either. I think Fabio at the end of the season or at some point next season should start taking over Evra in the starting eleven, so we can concentrate on younger players, not players living on past reputation.

evra has been fine going forward and offers good pace over lapping on the wing.. with young or nani. but at the back when defending he has been losing his way. not keeping his mind on the game. left backs are hard to come by so i wouldnt rush to soon to show him the door

Baines is a top quality left back, wouldn't at all mind seeing him here. He is now 27 years old and if we sold Evra and then ease Fryers into the LB role then it could be successful.

    Evra: 28 apps 0 Goals 3 Assists Baines: 28 apps 3 Goals 2 Assists

Baines in earlier seasons is far more superior to Evra on goals and assists, his free kicks would also be a good asset to have. Not a bad option at all.

whered you get your stats from surely evra has more than 3 assists?

fair play well i still think evra is much better player much faster stronger very skillfull baines is just so normal for me
United have had the best out of Evra, his performances of late have been shocking. He isnt the player he was 2 years ago and for me its because of the lack of genuine competition he's had. Not necessarily saying Baines is the answer, he's a v good player but he'd give us far more than Evra can now imo.
