Re: Worst United match you've ever watched?

    mark.k.:
That horrific match where Alan Smith broke leg & dislocated ankle. Same when it happened to Antonio Valencia. The matches were going nowhere and the football was dead in both cases only to have a career threatening injury to the United player and during a time of the season that was not good for the club.
Alan smith i seriously thought he wasnt going to play again

That for me is the match that stuck in my head. What ever about losing the away leg but to be all over them and then give up a priceless away goal. That was the most depressing match I've ever seen. Cantona missing sitters. I was never more fuming after that match. I thought that was it, never going to make the Champions league final. Next day Dortmund Jerseys were every where. That season more Dortmund Jersey's were sold than any other. It was such a sickening reminder of the match. It genuinely still pisses me off to this day. Even now. Thanks for putting me in a bad mood!
yeah. I hate matches like that

When I was growing up it seems like we got beat off Liverpool every single week! Obviously that's not possible, but almost all of my memories of watching Utd as a boy are of me getting upset, frustrated, and praying for a goal against Liverpool. Therefore, as you can imagine, that sound thrashing from Liverpool at OT hurt a lot. More than this years derby in fact. That's just me though, I think some of the older fans might have been more hurt by the Derby result.

I know everyone says after every defeat "thats the worst performance Ive ever seen!" but I genuienly think this yeah with Palace and now recently Bilbao they were SO SHOCKING its untrue.....Ive been watching since 94/95 and Ive seen some bad ones but some this season have been dire
The blbao one was the first time in a long time where we were completely outplayed for 2 legs. The city defeat wasnt as bad because we had a man sent off and you could say our defeat was down to lapses in concentration and defensve errors. Bilbao, we were second best for 2 legs. It was a footballing lesson.

The 2-0 loss to Barca in 2009 was quite terrible, so was the 1-0 loss against Leeds in the FA Cup a few years back,

the worst half i have seen in a match is against sunderland at old trafford in the first 45 mins in the 2009/10 season in premier league (I think it was 2-2).
I remember that one! We literally couldn't string four passes together. Scholes must have given it away about six or seven times which for him is just unheard of
guess who saved our back sides in the second half???????? that's right! MICHAEL CARRICK!!!!!! he did a realy good interception to stop it from being game over(them goin 3 goals up I think) they should of showed it on the official season reveiw dvd but its still better than that *** one from last years(still gutted).....some guy in the pub said that ryan giggs would of saved that goal if he was in net instead of foster(bent's goal) haha., yeah the city game this season was hard. yes i went to that match. I was in the north stand and i hated their(city) goals. united switched of from the last 9 mins?......oh well it wont hurt as much in may when we win this league.

I thought the performance against Leeds in the FA Cup a couple of years ago was utterly abysmal given the rivalry....there wasnt one United player who should have been paid that day! They let a then league one team come to Old Trafford and take the p1ss out of them and i dont recall a performance as bad in recent years, not even Crawley !!
You're right . That game was awful. We even had rooney and berbatov. I think the likes of richardson and others were sold the next season

There has been quite a few this season, really hard to choose, there has been games in the prem,cl,fa cup, europa league, carling cup, that United have been truly awful in,not the best season by a long shot,in fact this has to be one of the worst pl seasons in a while, especially when it comes to British teams in Europe.

Oh dear that crawley match was awful! You reminded me bout sumthin i had hoped to forget! Buraspor one was also pretty bad. I think the match against city, 50 yrs after munich crash was the worst for me.I felt for the players because it was an emotional day.But they really let the occassion get too them . We dont do well on anniverseries, birthdays(sir alex 70) etc.

We did well against Sunderland on the rename of the SAF stand (which I witnessed... fantastic atmosphere) Wes Brown was so excited he forgot what team he was playing for! ;)

I think the worst game I witnessed was Bayern Munich a few years back, the most disheartening result I have ever witnessed I think, that was a horrible, horrible day
dont really think we did great vs sunderland.. we jus edged it out
Yeah just. But, A win is a win tho. The Bayern munich one was disheartening, i agree. That was the best we had played all season!

Has to be the 6-1, i know the barcelona results were disappointing but at least we lost to a class well respected team, the 6-1 against City was disgusting to watch and i still have a bad taste in my mouth over losing to that shower of money hungry idiots. Still all's well that ends well and we're on our way to number 20! :)
