Apart from the penalty run, we were playing badly. Young never tried to out-run opponent and only Valencia managed some runnings. Welbeck was wrong-foot the who day and Rooney doesn't get a 7 from me. Rafael is probably the worst of all, reckless and careless and was lucky to walk out with just 1 yellow card. Carrick, Scholes, Evans, Rio and De Gea were about the only players that passed today and we were really lucky with such an easy win.
Not that you’re being critical though mate, yea! At this point in the season performance is outweighed by results every time mate. We are playing teams who are fighting for their premiership lives, so don’t expect give me’s

Very hard to play against a brick wall of players but the key is to have someone who can pass the ball in to areas where we can unlock there defence in one move. Scholes did this very wel against QPR as he set up rafael with a clever ball and he nearly achieved it a few other times if it wernt for good defending. The way scholes played on sunday was really amazing and i dont think we could have done it without him, the way he distributed the ball and kept it was excellent. Hopefully wigan will play more attacking football as we often see from them and that will help us immensly tommorrow.
    Paul Scholes our midfield maestro!

With teams like Blackburn or QPR who basically have come to defend I should say that trying to pierce a compact defence is very difficult. As such we must learn the lesson for the coming fixtures as well. We must use our wingers more and try long shots.
    This completely.

Even when down to ten men, QPR defended like their life depended on it. Its very difficult to break down and very difficult to even make the chances.. Its great tactics by the other teams as it is frustrating... the key is to keep going and be patient. Thats what we did and it paid off...

Just compare the games against QPR and us against Wolves... QPR even behind sat 10 men behind the ball most the time, allowing one or two to leave when they had the ball. Compare that to Wolves when even when they went down to ten men, they didnt defend, they tried to attack and score. We ripped them appart as they left theirselves open. But how can you rip a team appart from are sitting back, defending and just not looking to concede.

I will fight until i die

Yes my daghter & i have been watching this happen for quite a few games now, very frustrating, just wish someone would put their laces through the ball now & again.Teams with 9 behind the ball doesn't make it easy to play 3 or 4 little touch passes b4 you get a shot away.

I think we hurt ourselves by being a bit sloppy whenever the ball moved centrally. Scholes and Carrick kept the ball well but whenever we got it to our forwards or our widemen came inwards, it became too congested and we tried to play through it a bit too often instead of taking the opening to shoot. If we're going to play that way, we have to be very precise in those areas and at this point, we'd be better off going wide. Although, as i mentioned in another thread, it'd be nice to see us play within those tight spaces as we have before. Our attack wasn't quite in sync today and it restricted us to mostly playing out wide.

I won't complain if we continue in this vein and still win the title. After all that's happened this season, it's fantastic that we are even in this position. Let's not forget that Fergie is building yet again another team and I think we'll be seeing the final pieces coming together in the very near future.

    Re: Have you noticed?

Thats probably down to the fact that opposition teams are more tired in the second half and thus cant get out to close down shooters as well. We've had a lot of possession in the last two games and it begins to tell on the opposition more and more as the game goes on.
