The United quality is not good as we think, even overall the PL has decreased its quality, the best league is the spanish league ( La liga) currently. We saw when regular spanish teams beat the top brit teams in europe tournaments.

I think a lot of the poor results against Spanish teams is due to EPL teams' mentality, we seem to fear them and give them too much respect instead of forcing our own game on them.

Bilboa have shown this season that an EPL style high tempo game in both defence and attack can really upset the Spanish big boys and we should embrace our own best qualities instead of trying to play them at their own game.

As for United quality players, for me it means exciting but effective, loyal and hardworking team players.

It's rare that we carry a talented but aloof/work shy player like Berbatov. It was thought that it would be like having another Cantona for SAF, a player with tremendous skill that your team puts the extra work in around them as they can change a game in an instant with a single piece of magic. The difference has proved to be that Berbatov hasn't had anywhere near enough magic game changing moments to warrant the sacrifice where as Cantona undoubtedly did. So there are exceptions to my above description, Cantona was, Berbatov is not (he could have been but it hasn't happened).

Dempsey is one of those knee jerk targets for some coz’ the lad has had a good season, a bit like Adam last season, and what has he done. With all respect to the lad, I feel we need to be looking at a higher standard of player if we buy this summer

I think you do him a bit of disservice with that assessment. Adam is more of a knee-jerk reaction because he only had one season of top flight experience in England. Dempsey has been productive for Fulham for six seasons and holds their club record for Premier League goals. He has scored 1, 6, 8, 9, 13 and 21 (and counting) goals in each of his seasons with them. This is with being deployed as a midfielder or deep-lying player most of the time, not often an out-and-out striker. This doesn't include his assists or his "intangible" qualities.

That being said, I do understand exactly what you mean. I just felt he deserved a bit more credit than your giving him.

for me dempsey isn't a bad shout if berbatov and owen leaves he would add the experience if needed and still has pace and with valencia crossing in he would be deadly and wouldnt cost the earth for a very good squad striker.

also its not his first good season its probably his first season hes scored lots but hes been a consistant performer since he turned up in the premiership

i like Dempsey, he;s a good player for Fulham and i think he should stay there. surprised he hasn't really moved to a bigger club

Welbeck is still young and deserve some time. Beside, he is Academy and certainly worth the patience. Our only issue is in replace Scholes which must be dealt with.

Welbeck will never climb to world class level because he lacks the necessary attributes eg. vision, ball control, positioning, passing and even his scoring ratio is very low. I 'll give you the example of Rooney at his age was far much better player. But right now even Rooney himself instead of going forward he is now back paddling. Second example Iker Munian is also a very young player only 19 years but has already shown signs of climbing to the world class may be in the next two years. So let's not fool ourselves to believe that Welbeck is not doing much better because of his age. All good players like Messi and Ronaldo were already established at his age.

i didnt talk about central midfield,i talk about the midfield in general,and the guy also plays as an attacking midfielder.

Dempsey isnt even a central midfielder he's a centre forward or winger.

The difference is dempesy is 29 now and isnt going to improve, he has shown to be a good player in the premier league but our problem is in europe and not in the PL. Welbeck has the potential to be united quality and shows signs of it when he players, he is still a young lad and has alot to learn.
