Re: Young, De Gea and Jones.

I see the potential in Dea Gea and Young but very hesitate to say the same for Jones. In fact, what Jones does not possess is the skill to play football. He may be more successful if he quits football and then join some sports which do not require the players to think. When I looked at Jones' level of skill to control, to play and then to kick the football in the game against Blackburn, I just laughed. But since Manutd paid 18m to buy this boy, we keep on hearing some people saying that Jones possess the potential to be the caption of the team and even of the British team. Come on...

i agree with these opions on players performances and that thye have all been great on differnet parts this seaosn like at the beggining de gea was shaky and at the begging young was gret and so was jones bt just before young's injury he had a dip in form then gt injurred since then he has been good again and in like january febuary jones has had his moments bt he is young player smae as de gea and can both improve hugly bt i reckon young is good onloy thing he needs to imporve on is his conistancy as he is a gr8 player hopefully all 3 players will b unite greats and young and jones for england too :D

Yep and I will happily hold my hands up and say at first I wasnt happy at the thought of signing Young as I thought he wasnt needed, but the more and more I thought about it and when the signing was announced I had changed my mind and rightly so. Yes Young hasnt had an immense season, but he has had a pretty good season and the stats in a way show it.
I want happy either with his signing, for me the jury is still out on Young, yes he has had a few good games and he has been injured to be fair, but with no competition on the left hand flank he should have nailed that position down,Nani and Valencia can beat fullbacks on the inside and on the outside one on one,but with young if he cant beat a fullback cutting in the inside he struggles.I also feel a good right back has no problem dealing with Young.

Re: Young, De Gea and Jones.

De Gea and Jones world class. Excellent buys.

Ashley Young, he's decent but not what i'd call world class, still though, a good buy as he's scored some important goals for us this season and we havn't had a proper left winger since Giggs/Blomqvist.

I feel we're in an annoying situation with centre midfielders. We have: Fletcher, Cleverley, Anderson, Carrick and hopefully Pogba too next year all fighting for 2 spots. In my opinion that's a pretty good lineup but when most of them are constantly injured and only play the odd game here and there it's hard to gage their true potential. Nobody can deny how well Cleverley and Anderson played at the start of the season though but I just feel that with fletcher having odd-long-term illnesses we lack that more defensive minded midfielder, hence why Jones has played multiple times in the middle this year.

Re: Young, De Gea and Jones.

de gea started of very shakey, but turned it round making doubters ((like me)) look like idiots

young has given us a good option on the wings and looks a good solid buy

jones looks great when he gets a run in any position(his partnership with carrick in midfield over xmas stands out), but has been in and out the team and played all over the shop that it has been impossible for him to keep form in the second half of the season, really worry for his future if this continues as he has looked a shadow of himself in recent games. but obviously really talented!!

I'm happy with all 3. They will go on to do special things for MUFC.

All 3 have been key at times during our season.

Agreed, brilliant signings each of them.

Re: Young, De Gea and Jones.

When we bought De Gea and Jones I was over the moon. Two young players with massive potential and hopefully a great future ahead of them at Utd.

However, when it come to Ashley Young, like yourself, I was a bit surprised. I'm not one to question SAF but, I thought we could have slowly introduced Ravel Morrison on the left hand side instead of buying Young. I mean, we still have a few players that can play on the left such as, Nani, Park, Giggs, Welbeck and even Rooney.

Overall, I'm happy with the 3 signings. They've all played a massive part to the team this season. I hope we can just go on to win it now.

agree mostly with you're thoughts.. i don't remember Young having a successful run of games where you could say he's performed consistently to a high standard. But he has scored some fantastic goals, but like you said more should be expected in the assists department. However i don't think he cannot improve I think he will learn to add variety in his play, the cut inside or move out decision making. Remember this is a step up to a much much better club for him so we must look at more than just the first season. All in all i think we're going to see the best of all 3 in the coming seasons, it was good business last summer.

No denying he's scored some lovely goals, that trademark of cutting in and bending one into the top corner that he done for Villa. I was just expecting to see it a little more, like players in the past that have been in their mid twenties and take their game up to the next level like Yorke, Vidic, Cantona, Evra.

One thing about these three is the years are on their side. They are all good and still going through the learning process, exactly the same as every other player out there - experience is something you cannot buy no matter how rich you are. Give it three more seasons and UTD will have one of, if not thee, strongest young squad in England/Europe.

i completely agree with your comments regarding Jones and De Gea. However i dont agree with your summary on Young, for me he has been an excellent. He had an injury mid season and his performances naturally dropped on return to the squad, however when fully fit and getting runs in the squad he's been one of the stand out players this season for me. Just my opinion.

Personally I thought his form dropped before the mid season injury.

Youngs been better than nani who in my opinion has had a very poor season.
