Look @ this potential squad !!!
Valencia? Surely LAV over nani. And there's no way we'd get martinez, hazard and gaitan, how much would that cost? £80 mil+? And rooney does better with someone next to him. I'd maintain the 4-4-2 and play martinez as a dm and muniain as an am. Muniain has the work ethic as proved to track back and help so martinez wouldn't be overrun, and it's needless to emphasise the attacking talent with those two in the middle, LAV on the right and young/nani on the left.
first of all I said "Potential squad" and yes I don't think we'd spend that much.. Nani is better than young and when he's in form hes better than Valencia as well.. but SAF would obviously juggle with the squad rotation bringing Valencia, young, chicharito all into play at times.. If we do get Gaitan i'd rather have hazard than martinez (one he'll of a scary attack) and in midfield you can play carrick/ando/clev/giggs/scholes/pogba/ possibly fletcher.. a lot of options!
What?! Valencia is much better than nani full stop. If we get gaitan which I certainly hope we don't there's no way I'd get hazard rather than martinez. Getting two more wingers, because that's what they are, is a ridiculous idea, we have more than enough already. The 4-4-2 with muniain and martinez in the middle would make so much more sense. As I've already said it maintains our favoured formation, and it offers brilliant defensive ability as well as attacking. Yours is ONLY focused on attacking, and the midfield wouldn't have a chance when attacked. And it's not as if your options are cheaper, Hazard would be 35 mil and gaitan 20 mil at the very minimum, whereas martinez would be 30 mil and muniain 25. The dm is more essential for us than the am atm, hence why I've gone for my idea, you fail to acknowledge the priority here.
I know but when was the last time we had an ACTUAL DM :S? KEANE? Id pick hazard over gaitan so that why im hoping if we do buy gaitan then we end up buying hazard, but obviously thats not too realistic.. their both wingers/attacking midfielder btw.. but if you play a 4-2-3-1 then we still have a lot of midfielders to play.. I know what you mean that without a solid midfield you wont control the ball BUT you remember when we have tevez rooney ronaldo? we had a very scary attack and a solid defense, midfield is the same.. hence what im trying to say is the more your attacking the more the other team will be defending and not have so much of the ball.. ill show you a more realistic formation now..
DM is not a priority since we have CARRICK FLETCHER POGBA ANDERSON AND EVEN PARK & JONES CAN PLAY THERE. WHAT IS NEEDED IS AT LEAST TWO ATTACKING MIDFIELDER for christ sake!!!
Do you seriously understand football? Carrick, Fletcher are CM, Pogba Midfielder, Anderson Midfielder/Offensive Midfielder when he was back at Porto and Jones is a CB but we shift him around, and Park is a winger who sometimes is converted to CM since hes getting a lot slower.. None of them are actually DM.. the last time we had a good DM was Keane!!

ACCORDING TO REPORTS EARLIER THIS MONTH SAF ONLY HAS £50 MILLION TO SPEND THIS SUMMER SO UNLESS ALL THESE PLAYERS ARE TO BE PICKED OUT OF THE BARGAIN BASEMENT BIN I DOUBT VERY MUCH WE WILL GET BOTH OF THEM. WHAT WE REALLY NEED IS A TOP CLASS PROVEN EUROPEAN STRIKER TO REPLACE BERBATOV, OWEN AND MACHEDA. ROONEY CANT DO IT ALL ON HIS OWN AND PERSONALLY I DONT THINK WELLBECK IS UP TO THE JOB.

    Muniain is not a CM.
ok then pedantic. 4-1-2-1-2 then or 4-3-1-2 is what it'd be I suppose.
Eh? Didn't you say he can play as a midfielder next to Martinez 'whether I like it or not'?
my mistake, you're correct I should've said in front. I'd considered the 3 man midfield option but I've said how I don't think it'd work as well, hence why I've opted for this.

Re: why will united sign 2 attacking midfielders/wingers ?

The thing is zishan NONE of those you mentioned actually play there do they? As for what you're saying diwan Hargreaves was a dm I'm pretty sure. Had he been free of injury he'd no doubtve played there whenever he could. That proves SAF likes having a dm. I love your idea of all out attack and you've mentioned some excellent ideas but we have to be realistic. We never play with 1 up front and a 2 man midfield with those you mentioned would get torn apart. Also gaitan is a winger not a cam. Yes he's played a few games there but his primary position is on the wing simple as that. At nova juniors riquelme was in the middle and now aimar plays in the middle not gaitan. For your idea to work we need a Martinez esque player and adding that to the fees for hazard and Martinez would be too much. I still think a 2 man midfield of Martinez and muniain would work. They have a great understanding and both would be able to put the work in. A 3 man midfield wouldn't work as the space for a dm, cm and am would be too congested. However I think my idea would work, trouble is it'd cost 60 mil!

gaitan was originally a CAM that is why effective to come into the middle, however benfica did not want to waste Aimar talent on the bench so slotted gaitan to the wings and aimar in the middle with witsel and some other guy behind another winger and striker - cardozo upfront

anyways Gaitan to United is looking certain and the only thing we as fans can do is believe in the club and SAF :)

So we'd be buying a player whose own team think they have much better players already to play in their central midfield, and we'd be thinking that he'd be good enough to play in our midfield? That's one of the many reasons why I hope this Gaitan story is untrue as he's just not good enough!

Much better options to improve our midfield are out there, and our midfield does need improving.

Very True. Hope its only rumour and we did not buy him because of his low price!

Agreed, with valencia and young in the team they both track back and help with defending. Will hazard or gaitan and nani to some extent track back? i highly doubt it when you see the workrate valencia puts in to get back. Really poor formation which focuses on attacking and thats more or less it.
