well done legend Cantona at least there is a poster here who seems to have a clue about the game yes Chris Smalling lost his man but where was David De Gea the ball is in not more than a yard from him he is 6'4" and 5'6" Carlos Tevez stops him challenging for the ball ridiculous it was a free header for crying out loud a yard or so from inside our own 6 yard line that is the keepers sacred territory anything that comes in there the keeper must get it, or make sure it must go thro ' him before anybody can get it he doesn't command his area well enough and that is where United's weakness lies. I am sure SAF is going to be buying a senior keeper at seasons end watch this space. Before today's game I knew Valencia wouldn't play those little things about the gaffer I seem to pick out and something tells me he has no faith in David De Gea. Rio is also poor to watch Chris Smalling who had not started a Premier League game since Janaury be the heart of the defense tells me the passing of the torch has already happened many may want to blame Smalling. But he is 21 and he played with heart where we're the rest of his colleagues a heartless bunch that's what I saw today Chris Smalling just needs to cut out on the niggling injuries by learning to play smart and not always relying on his pace to rescue him when he makes a mistake keep it up Smalling a mountain of a player I doubt I can say the same for Giggs, Rooney , Rio , yet these are our senior players.

if you look at de gea when the corner was taken he was more interested in tevez. he started behind tevez when the kick was taken and had to run behind his own goaline to get anywhere near the ball so yes de gea can be at fault for the goal. but what cost us the game were the tactics. did hart make a good save did we look dangerous ppl wake up.... and ask yourself what would schmeichal do

Sir Alex has as much responsibility for the result as anyone. Poor team selection, too much tinkering all season long. Worst United team in 25 years but one or two big signings along with the young boys getting more experience and we'll be back playing great football.

Are you for real??? What could DeGea have done? If there's someone to blame today is Sir Alex for that puny defensive mentality team, he wanted a point from the Etihad that's why he put Park. Maybe and I wanna remark the MAYBE if Valencia was there from the beginning instead of Nani we could've been more dangerous having the ball. But we can only hope we get the winning mentality for next season and SAf should stop making those stupid experiments on big matches and in Europe.

You cannot blame the young kid. If anyone has cost us anything it is SAF. He is clueless and should have been sacked tonight!!!!

As a united supporter I always boasted, we don't need anyone to do the job 4 us but now we have to rely on Newcastle and QPR. It shows we now lack the quality to be champions. We didn't play well. I don't see any reason to blame Degea like if that ball had not gone in we would have scored. He made some good saves 2nyt and I told myself the boy is growing.

De gea was also at fault for Englands world cup fail becuase Rooney was so distracted about how promising he looked. I also heard that De Gea is a distand nephew of Osama Bin laden

Re: Another competition De Gea has cost us

Let's not do this please. Any top keeper would have a difficult task of stopping that ball. To be fair, it was a good ball in. And yes Smalling could have done better with his marking. I know most, if not all of us are disappointed, not only with that result, but will the collection of poor results we have had this season. If City does win the title, then let us let them have it, for once. Back then, Liverpool were the team to go after, but we managed to get past them. Then came Arsenal, and then Chelsea. But what United have demonstrated is that we always regroup and get back on top. We have a strong foundation and I'm sure Sir Alex will go back to the drawing board and plan the next towards breaking perhaps what is a foreseeable City dominance in the next coming seasons. I'm sure we'll come around. And for god's sake, let's give SAF a break. He's the main reason why we have a lot of trophies, perhaps without him, United will not be where it is today and some of us may not even be supporting such a loser of a team. Nobody can stay at the top all the time guys.. One thing for sure, we will be back. I know there are lots of redundancy in my comment but I'm just trying to send out a message.

Re: Another competition De Gea has cost us

Are you seriously blaming De Gea for the lost??? No goalkeeper in the world could have saved the header. In fact, if it wasn't for his save in the second half, United would have been two down. If you want to blame anyone, blame the attack- they didn't do enough during the match and the stats show it (3 shots on target). Hate to say this, but I think Fergie got it wrong today as well- should have started with the same team as against Everton except changing Rafael with Smalling/ Jones. At the very least, Valencia and Welbeck should have started in a 4-4-1-1 (Rooney playing in the hole)
