seriously, I don't understand wallyballs...if he doesn't like this thread, why don't he report it to the mods rather than posting in here and asking people not to reply here anymore? who is he anyway?  Super Angry

    Good morning everybody.

At least Wallyballs had the decency to come on here and express his view, unlike some of the others who moan about these threads. However, it has been pointed out to him that he should stay away. Maybe he will take the advice. LOL!!

It's been really quiet on here the past 24 hours. Maybe it's the calm before the storm. LOL!! Hope it stays this way for a long time to come.

The Mods are doing a fantastic job by the way. Well done guys. Keep it up. The new changes are fabulous also, and I see that you guys have won the respect of the posters on here!!

    Three cheers for the Mods!!!

Thanks man utd cap. But stay away? For what? I didn't do anything wrong. But splendid spy you r absolutely unsplendid and ridiculous. I was merely stating my say and you guys did nothign wrong by posting into the fanzone. I hope if I am right about this being a democracy, I would not be inteferring by just stating my reservations. Spendid spy is being unintelligent by suggesting i bring this up to the mods, its akin to making a police report because your neighbour's dog was barking too loud.

I am not upset but I would like to see more of other threads. It seems that Anti-Muppet team thread along with many more others are hogging the fanzone in such a way that we don't get to see new threads, before we could even give the new threads a chance to live...they disappear in the bottom of the abyss due to threads like this still hogging the limelight. Its alright to have threads like this but do we have to like talk about it over a year?

the thing with a lot of these threads is that many of us who reguarly post in them see them as "social threads". this basically means that we chat with other like-minded posters more informally on a sort of "friendship" type basis, something that is very hard to achieve in any other part of the forum. that is the reason why these sort of threads stay up for a very long time.

Kudos to Dizza the Aussie. I agree with what you say and am glad that you say this with a heart of a fan. Thank you for your understanding. Now, this is the kind of true united fan indeed !

    Hello everybody.

I must admit that the forum has cooled down alot. Yes, I was pleasantly surprised that some are really trying to be more positive. I hope they continue. But as usual there are still a few who think it is their divine right to criticise.

However, just when I thought that it could not get any worse, there are muppets who have resorted to highlighting players' skin color and players' physical features. And they justify it by saying that they are just having a bit of fun!! We really don't need fans like them. I wish the Mods would ban people who discriminated on the basis of skin colour or implied that our players looke like aliens!

They are immature, sad people who have no respect and regard for other's feelings.

If you spot anything R a c i a l like you have just mentioned then report them. The MODS are not on here all the time and cannot read every post or thread buddy. This is where we can help them out by being there "eyes&ears". They will appreciate that. The likes of MATT is from America and he is more than likely tucked in his bed by now. The others might be working or have a family matter too attend to.YesBig Smile

Right on ! i was very surprised to see a thread where a fan was saying something discriminatory towards Valencia's skin colour. But the one danger of getting other people to be eyes and ears of mods is that they sometimes could have bias opinions.

For instance when I said that the anti-muppet team thread was too long on the forums and asked if there are anything could be done to make fanzone more flexible, immediately i was barraged with attacks, people calling me unintelligent and a child and telling me i am not welcomed here. Whats more shocking is that it didn't come from an ord fan. Its just a danger of relying on just one opinion. But there are instances whereby some fans make *** comments or attempt to abuse female fans in the forums or wants SAF to be sacked, these are the people mods should be targetting to kick out. But I am just afraid that ord fans like me who make some constructive criticisms may be subjected to wrong judgment.

morning all. yet another lovely sunny day in Melbourne. 17h 30m until the big game against Chelsea... i'm looking forward to it!

    Morning Dizza.

Tadhg Kennelly has 10 days to decide if he wants to make a return to the AFL.

Kennelly admitted last night that he is strongly considering a return to the game despite his conviction in the immediate aftermath of the All-Ireland final victory over Cork that he would be staying with Kerry.

Kennelly confirmed that he has an offer from his previous Aussie Rules club, Sydney Swans, on the table and must decide whether or not to accept it by the end of this month. It is understood that St Kilda, the club that Tommy Walsh is bound for, have also made an offer.

Kennelly admitted his head was "fried" over the imminent decision whether or not to return.

"The offer was always there. It hasn't come since the summer or since September, when Paul Roos (Sydney coach) was there," he said.

"It's no secret that Sydney are looking to recruit and they see my experience counting with some of the younger players. I don't know. It's obviously a huge decision but it's one I have to make in the next 10 days."

Kennelly also revealed that a coaching role could be part of his brief if he did return.

"There would be a coaching opportunity there at some stage. I'd say at the most I'd have two years left in me as an AFL player, maybe three. There are a lot of things to consider and obviously financial security is one. My girlfriend Nicole is also living there. But I honestly haven't made up my mind. I'm torn on it."

It comes as Kennelly issued a statement yesterday expressing remorse for the tone of his commentary on the Nicholas Murphy All-Ireland incident which was published in his book 'Unfinished Business', an extract of which appeared over the weekend.

The extract has caused controversy but Kennelly stressed yesterday that he never intended to deliberately hurt any player. He also revealed that he was "stupid and naive" not to read the final extract in the days after the All-Ireland final.

"On my solemn word I did not and would never intentionally go out to hurt another footballer," he said. "The challenge, I admit, was over the top. I was too pumped up.

"The words 'while I hadn't wanted to come in and seriously injure anyone, I was determined to make a statement' were not included in the extract from the book even though this sentence followed on. That one line would have clarified my intentions but it was not included in the piece."

Kennelly stressed he would never do anything deliberately to sully the good name of his father or Kerry football.Describing it as the worst days of his life since the death of his father, Tim, he accepted "100pc" that he had made a "big mistake".

    afternoon Red Irish.

If Kennelly comes back to the AFL, i think he'd go back to Sydney, even though the Saints made this year's grand final and Sydney were a bottom-half team, mainly because he'd fit right back in at the Swans, but the Saints wouldn't be able to fit him in their first team. do you hope he stays or do you want him to come back to the AFL (i guess it depends on who you go for!)??

Sheesh, this thread has been around for over a year. No offence to those who regularly post here. But could we just give it a rest and give more air time for new threads? I just hope to see more diversity in the fanzone threads than the ones we regularly see here...its either games or this but rarely any social discussion, if anything at all.

Wallyballs....Stay out of this thread entirely.  You are acting like a child and aren't welcome here!

Whoa, i was just merely suggesting something, sorry if you felt offended. I am rather shocked to be called a child. I cannot believe this, man, why react in such a defensive manner over what i just said.?Hey, i did not mean to start a fight with you guys....all of a sudden I am not welcome here....if another fan said this, I wouldn't mind but coming from you, its a shocker. The overeaction is really shocking.

I view this part of the Forum as something of a haven from some of the things that go on in other parts. During the summer I would return here from the front line battle-scarred and war weary, put down my sword and shield and find I could enjoy reading or posting in a more social, friendly and less antagonistic environment.

I don't think you need see the title of this thread as limiting social contribution in any direction. Like some of the others popular threads on here your contribution and any angle you choose to steer the thread in is within your control - witness this very debate we are having.

    No offence taken,

As a suggestion, if you want to start a discussion about something specific why not (if you know this is a popular) thread mention that you have started it on here and ask for people's contribution - I would have no problem with finding it and adding my thoughts.

Now that is an intelligent&constructive contribution from a very intelligent fan. Read in depth what he says and you will know what he means, I can, unintelligent ones cannot.YesBig Smile

I never said anything insulting to anyone who contributed to the anti-muppet team. I am just merely stating that I just was thinking of wanting to see more of other threads in the fanzone saying other things. So sorry if you have felt insulted, but if you can't have a constructive conversation and strike other fans by calling them unintelligent just shows how immature you are.

Why are you so upset with this thread? If you want to create more diversity post, by all means create it. If it is good, many other forum members will reply.

Wally a few things you may not realize...

    1)  It is obvious that you have not read much of this thread.

    2)  The threads that disappear off the front page are not gone, all you have to do is STOP BEING LAZY and go to the next page.

    3)  People have the right to post in threads if they so chose, whether you like it or not, just as you have the right to post in this thread.  Get over yourself.

If this is a forum FOR THE FANS?  Why can't we write about what we want, so long as it is appropriate.

These threads are in the fanzone and for those that use the forum regularly, they understand this.  No sense in complaining or changing it.  If you don't like this or other threads....do not enter.

evening all. hopefully United can play better than my "local team", the Melbourne Victory. lost 4-0 at home to the Central Coast... don't think it can get much worse than that! anyway, i can't wait for the game against Chelsea, and i have a good feeling about it.
