    Re: Anti-Muppet Team

    vinodocarlos & PUGAN RAUL

Calm down!! Did ye read what i posted at all i wonder? I did'nt order him to do anything, nor did i say i had any qualms about why he supports another country for the reasons he does, i simply said i dont understand the reasons why he & now others it seems does. I did'nt ask him to apologise either for it. I also did'nt say he did'nt have the freedom to support whichever team he wants or in this case a country.

If ye want to support big footballing nations which in this case is Brazil & France because ye'r own country has'nt got a chance as ye put it. Fair play to ye.

Support is a big thing to me, of course i'd like a country to win the World Cup (provided the Rep of Ireland dont make it)!, & im on record of saying it here a few times that id like to see England winning it & gave my reasons as into why i think they can win it, but i aint going to support them, I cant bring myself to support another country nor do i see the point in it either.

No hard feelings i hope !

I dont understand the excuse you give for supporting another country, which was basically because your own country does not have a decent football team, & has no chance in making it to a big tournament.

I actually thought you were French going by your 'I've never been so happy when Anelka scored' & 'Let us break Irish hearts' posts dotted throughout the forum.

Im also from a country that has little or no chance of making it big on the world stage, but that does not stop me from supporting believing in the players that wear the green jersey. Tommorow night is our last chance saloon in making it to the World Cup, if Ireland dont make it, i'll be upset but i'll still be proud of the players for giving me lots of enjoyment through out the qualifing campaign & bringing us to within a heartbeat of making it.

Take my advice mate & take a leaf out of the Welsh, Scottish, Northern Irish & Irish fans books, & stick by your country no matter what & believe that some day they'll make it to a World Cup, cause if the people in your country dont have belief & faith in your football team, they'll never make it !!

I understand what you mean red irish...I come from the same country as splendid..I know we do not have chance of going to the World Cup...because the whole footballing system has gone corrupt...We were once as good as the Japanese and the Koreans in the 80s but that era fell but even then we could not make it..

I still hope we do qualify some day but something drastic needs to be done to achieve that...but its not fair for you to say that splendid doesn't have the freedom to support whoever team he chooses too...He doesn't need to be coming from that particular country to be entitled to support that country..Lets say for an example, even a French guy doesn't necessarily have to support their birth country...Do you get i mean?

If we turn the tables around, lets say if you were from Nepal or Suriname..( Its just an example ) you would hope your team would be in the World Cups some day...but deep down you know its an almighty struggle...Surely you would be doing the same as splendid..supporting another country in the World Cup..

Thanks Vinod and Lim Chia Cheen for helping me to explain. That was exactly the reason why I have to support another country in an international tournament. I really hope and pray that my country can get into the world cup but they are so poor that they can't even qualify for the Asian cup and continue to struggle within the south east asia region as well. If you are from Malta for instance ( no offence to all the Maltese Big Smile ) , what are the chances that your country will qualify for the world cup? very slim...to say the least. Therefore, red irish, robi, jake and dizza..hopefully you guys can understand why certain people have to support other countries in an international tournament. It's not that we aren't patriotic, it's just that we have no choice.

I have been supporting Brazil for about a decade plus.....And, I ain't got no qualms about it....But that doesn't makes me unpatriotic....I love Malaysia....Wherever I go, Malaysia is home and it will be like that....

But, football in Malaysia is corrupted by politics, and so unfortunately, till we clean it up we'll never make it....The day that we make it to WC Finals will be the happiest day for every Malaysian.........So, splendid, you dont need to apologize to anyone or explain yourself....It's your decision...

I am neutral. But love watching ireland when keane was captain. Still, the irish are an impressive team without him and i applaud their never say die attitude.

i agree red irish. take my beloved Socceroos (Australia) and New Zealand for example... in 2005, we finally qualified after 32 years... last weekend, New Zealand finally qualified after 27 years... that "some day" became reality in both cases.

i hope that you guys beat France. i would love to see Ireland in the World Cup, much more than the French.

Well, things are different in Malaysia. We have the infrastructure and money, but to reach World Cup, it will take an extreme major overhaul in our local football system and mindset of Malaysian footballers.

Maybe its the humid weather. Hahaha, i remember Malaysian goalkeepers r like the best acrobats in the world. They leapt sideways like incredible hulk but never ever able to make a save. Worse goalkeepers in the world, worse than Taibi. And yes i blady know well because I am your compatriot.

Devil  France, I am afraid now days live in there past glory. There manager can hang on by the skin of his teeth and still seem to manage!! Weird. When you look at Georgie Best, and Ryan Giggs, two great world class players who have never graced the world cup finals, its heart-aching. Them two would have set the world on fire if they had played in a world cup tournament. Big Smile

WooHoo!!! Big Smile France won. Hopefully they will qualify for the world cup next year. It will be disastrous if Ireland were to qualify.

Devil Good morning BUSTERS. Splendid Spy buddy, why would it be disastrous for Ireland to qualify? I would love Ireland too thump France in Paris and qualify. I dont like the manager of France who seems to be hanging on by the skin of his teeth and keeps getting away with it and I cant stand Henry...........plus I have Irish blood in me.Big Smile

Oopsss. Sorry about that Audouc. I have got nothing against Ireland but it's just that I feel France got better players overall in every department ( except the goalkeeping 1) . It will be a shame if we can't get to see Henry, Ribery, Evra and Benzema in next year World Cup. Anyway,  I support France in every international tournaments since the Cantona days under Houllier. However you are absolutely right. Domenech is a dud. Hopefully he gets fired and becomes the next Liverpool manager. Big Smile

Oh Splendid mate, you have gone right down in my estimation now.  The only way I would support France is if Cantona was still playing and, with the exception of Evra, I wouldn't pay money to watch any of them.

I agree with you Aragon...France are team on their low right now..and i wouldn't pay money to watch them right now...It baffles me how they are coping with a clown of a manager...I would say they have a good squad but its because him they alot more worse..

Yeah, It would be ideal for Domenech to replace Benitez eventually...Both managers should have been sacked ages ago...And both have a keen eye for MEDIOCRITY...GeekedStick out tongue

Hey Aragon and vinodcarlos 1, both of you are probably right. France ain't that attractive team to watch anymore. The world cup and the european cup winning teams are no more. However, the reason i started supporting France was because of Eric Cantona during the early 90s. I supported them even though they fail to qualify for the 94 world cup under another clown of a manager, Houllier ( Liverpool again Big Smile ). Hence, i got to stick to the team i support no matter what. Smile Come to think of it, this french squad ain't that bad if you compare it to the the failures of the french squad in the early 90s ( failure to qualify for both the 90 and 94 World cup and the early round exit in the 92 european championships )

I liked France when they won the world cup. The game they played was beautiful, but now...  [:'(]

Nowadays, I think France still win due to individual brilliance despite everything Domenach does to prevent them from winning.

May today be better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow
