I realise this is old, but I'm posting it anyway because it's relevant.

The best chance to get a long term manager is to recruit a former United player that has he's heart at the club..... Might not be the next manager, but there's Ole who could become something good.... Then there's maybe Giggs etc.... Of course we don't know how good they will be, but if they become world class, well I don't see them leaving Man Utd.....

If he's replaced by someone like Mourino then I'd agree. But if someone like Moyes was to come in then I could see him having a lengthy future with the club.
But what silverware has Moyes won? Why hire someone who hasn't won trophies?
Are you expecting Everton to win the Premierleague or FA Cup or something? Obviously if he managed United he'd have a significantly higher chance of winning trophies.
Wouldn't you at least expect some trophy? Think of SAF winning things with Aberdeen? I mean there was a sign there that he could do things.

Moyes and Everton can rise to the challenge for one game per season vs Man United (most years). But what about the other 37 games? Can you see yourself being content with United coming in at 8th, 9th every year and not winning trophies?

I'd sooner take Martin O Neill who left Villa when he realised that *** Lerner only had mid-table ambitions. See where Villa are now? 

Why hire someone who hasnt won trophies? Same question could be asked of Porto when they hired Mourinho.
So in your eyes Porto = Manchester United and in Jaspers eyes Arsenal = Manchester United. It's a tough job Market out there. I think for the biggest football management job in the world some proven success should be on the managers record. At least a small handful of trophies like SAF had when he came along
Didnt say Porto was Manchester United, fact is they are probably the biggest club in Portugal and they employed Mourinho despite him having little managerial experience and no trophies. And what did he do? He won trophies.

So why cant United employ Moyes and he be a success here?

I think it will be about minimising the gamble, the risk, myself, but you never know.

He very probably will be the last.

When SAF does decide to go I'd rather have Guardiola for 4 years than the prospect of having Moyes for a long time and then consistently being midtable.

If Moyes arrived the first thing that would happen is Rooney would want out, and, as he wouldn't want to move away he end up at eastlands adding insult to injury all round!

So you know Moyes would be midtable do you? What like Fergie finished 11th and 13th in his 3rd and 4th season here? Your post is based on pure speculation with no substance whatsoever.

Re: Why SAF will be United last long term manager.

    Sir Kones:
It would be an amazing blessing to end up with another manager that sticks with the club for decades. It just doesn't seem to happen that way too often any more, in any sport. A lot of that can come down to the organization though, the leaders of the club, so maybe we'll get blessed. Honestly, I don't even really like thinking about it. People can cry around about the members of the squad, our tactics, our failure to sign this player or that player, but the most worrisome thing to me will be what happens when he leaves. I mean, all I've known is a Sir Alex Ferguson Manchester United....weird to even think of it any other way...
Same here, I'm dreading the day he retires.

Perhaps we should look north of the border , any one know if there's any good managers up there? Don't know what it is about the Scottish but all the legends seem to come from there. SAF, Sir Matt Busby, Bill Shankly to name but a few, must be all that whiskey that they drink.
haha, hey giggsy, although i not scottish, drinking whiskey dont make me a great manager, and you are right bout the scottish (david moyes)??
I knew it! One mention of whiskey and there ye are! What's wrong with a simple beer?

One things for sure, anyone from outside the UK will get homesick or want to be successful in 10 countries or will be tempted by the green stuff. You'll only get loyalty and stability from the Scotts (except McLeish).

hahaha you're right, i knew that the first mention of drink Jasper would be somewhere close.
i"m still here you know!,just about this side of compass mentiss after a hard week, and kinda optimistic about whats to come, dont know why, just am.....
