We wore red socks from 1962-1972: The Arsenal kit has totally different white socks, so I'm guessing that we will have black ones as usual.

No one else think the new 'gingham' style kit looks like spiderman..

On another note...this might actually help us next season, as the other sides will all be rolling around laughing. It seems the worry about big transfers has been settled...what world star would like to be seen running about in that pile of s.hite?

exactly! and guess when that point was? fair enough, we had the green and yellow one to commemorate newton heath but the away jersey changed every year anyway.this changing of the home jerseys every season has happened since shortly after the glazers came in.the 06/07 season we had the busby babes commemorative jersey.this was a nice jersey.why couldnt we have kept it a 2nd season, especially when the next season was the 40th anniversary of the munich disaster.the following season's jersey is the only home one we've had for more than one season since.after that we had the 09/10 old trafford commemorative jersey with the 'v' (basically the power rangers suit), 10/11 we had the collar brought back which i was delighted with, then this season they just removed the collar and sold us the same jersey.

Well, every other club has had a similar deal and the contract with Nike guarantees United a set fee every year no matter how many kits are released or sold. Look at Arsenal's kits since 2002 (when Nike brought out their first United kit) - 8 home kits (including next seasons that has just been unveiled three of them , 12 aways. United have had 8 home kits (again including this new gingham monstrosity) and 12 aways. Three Arsenal home kits were supposed to commemorate something (last season at HIghbury, the late 1960s shirt and their 125th anniversary). We've had two commemorative homes (Busby Babes and the chevron - which Nike couldn't figure out whether it was to commemorate the 1909 FA Cup final or 100 years of Old Trafford) and the 1968 style third kit. Now, I'm no defender of the Glazer regime, but it looks like the complaints should be addressed to Nike in this case as our kit policy is identical to Arsenal's.

I can't believe this ***. Year after year they come up with *** jerseys with no design process going into. All we hear is how the material is lightweight, recylable etc. Also, how many things are we going to be commemorating, not buying that as a reason to change the kit. The chevron kit was a carbon copy of the Mexico 06 world cup kit. Last year's kit was ok-ish, the away kit was worse but this tea towel/table cloth is just outrageous. Worse still is a lot of people will buy it.

Actually with the way the contract with NIke works, the club get a fixed amount, this really only benefits Nike.

Of course the great thing about a new kit every year, you don't have to buy it, completely optional.

you really believe they never discussed how often they would be bringing out merchandise when agreeing the deal with utd? you think the glazers would agree a fixed sum then sit back and watch nike maximise profits without getting a slice of the pie.this would all have been agreed in negotiations.and on your second point, im presuming you dont have kids.its all about who has the latest kit in the school yard.i dont have stats but im sure whenever the latest jersey comes out the highest sales are amongst kids and teenagers.easy say that to me but try sayin it to a 10 year old.the club knows this and uses it to their advantage

The Glazers were unheard of at United when Nike and the club agreed the deal - it was back in 2000. Also, as much as wearing home kits for a single season bugs me, the trend was really started by the likes of Everton and Spurs who have ben releasing three new kits every year for the past decade. Obviously Nike are going to follow suit after a while and we have the same deal as Arsenal do - two new kits per season and the previous away used as next season's third kit. The deal also meant Nike took over the entirety of United's merchandising operations. The deal lasts until 2015 and you can be sure that there will be changes to make it less favourable to Nike if/when it is renewed.

Previews have already been released as shown. As shown on Facebook yesterday it is going to be very very very similiar to the checked shirt that has been doing the rounds on the internet. Release should be around May 31st.

It will be released once the 11-12 season ends - then it will be clear which Premier League badge (gold champions or plain white) will be needed on the sleeves (this is an option to buy when ordering a shirt)

Yeah exactly with a more basic collar. This one is just so plain. Plain black collar with no imagination on it or the sleeves and just tartan pattern. So weak it's unreal and it'll still be about 50 or 55 quid or the equivalent in each country it's sold...

Definitely won't be buying that monstrosity of a home kit. Hopefully no one does, and Nike learn a valuable lesson - if they want to make money they'll have to produce decent kits. As has been said before, United get the same amount regardless of how many sell. So if no one buys that horrible kit it'll be Nike who suffer.

ye really dont understand how business works.if no one buys the kit, nike make a loss therefore dont offer the same amount in the next contract, if they even offer another contract.keep making exuses and turning a blind eye though
