    Re: Long term perspective

We don't have to wait that long for City to "fall down"... I mean the Financial Fair Play rules is already being monitored, and during the 2013/2014 season it will be fully implemented.... Witch will stop City from spending that kind of money.....

They have gone around these rules, but they won't be able to do that anymore.... I think they are (or have been) under investigation because of that, and I don't think they will be able to do it again... And if they still manage to do it, UEFA will just come up with another rule that will stop it from happening.... I think they would do anything to stop clubs from doing that....

I have been hearing a lot on here in recent days how we will NEVER be able to match the spending power of City, Chelsea, Barcelona, Madrid etc etc. At the moment this is definitely the case, we have owners that have ploughed debt into the club in order to buy it and SAF is having to be very canny and pragmatic in his purchases. Does this mean the end of Man Utd as a true force? Of course not!

While the likes of Chelsea and City are beaming at the moment with all their funds, in reality they are a very elaborate castle built on quick sand. They rely on billionaire backers, they have not earnt their money....they can not earn their money. At some point in the future...5 years, 10 years, 15 years? These backers will be bored of their purchase and give up on it (probably once their purchase has been successful for a few years) At that point, these clubs (who can not be self sufficient) will suddenly be laden with debt and have to be stripped of their assets...administration/ relegation will be an inevitabilty! Their world class players will jump ship and they will eventually find their way back to their natural position (City will be battling relegation)

United on the other hand, have the highest turnover in the workd (which has actually increased in the last few years) Even with the Glazers debt we are still in a very comfortable position financially. This will not change, we are the most famous and reveared club in the word, with a global fan base! One day the Glazers will sell up/ or will have paid off all the debt..... I hate the Glazers with a passion, and wish we could go back to being a PLC, we earn our money and should be entitled to spend more of it on new assets (players)

It's been a disappointing season, but we will bounce back, we always do, 89 points isn't so shabby though is it? Remember that financial fair play rules will come into effect soon, SAF's plan of bringing in lots of young talent will seem a masterstroke in a couple of years. Keep your chins up lads we ARE UNITED and have faced many challenges over the years, but these are what makes our club stronger!

Good post. Shame the lads who want United to go insane in the transfer market will never read it or if they do, it won't sink in.
I agree that United look good in the long term. However, on this site these are wasted words, I'm afraid.

Long term prospective?.......sh*te........... and do you really want to wait 5, 10 or 15 years?
City will get round the financial fair play rule so we should go and poach the Newcastle head scout to find us some cheap gems,as ours is not coming up with the players expected.
