Re: Is Modric the man we need in midfield?

Are you guys serious? Modric is amazing, what he does there are very few others who can. He controls the tempo of games, like Scholesy he can slow it down and speed it up. His range of passing is excellent and yes although he doesn't score enough goals he's literally the origin of every attack that Spurs create. He is the most able replacement for Scholes but is just ridiculously priced, and there's a reason for that.

I really don't think he's as good as people seem to think he is.

He plays some superb passes occasionally but that's about it. He doesn't score enough goals and at 26 I'd rather we signed Kagawa. He's younger, quicker and more clinical than the Croatian.

How about sensational? How about superb? A goal from the realms of greatness!

I would love to see Modric here but not for the price that Spurs are asking for him.Hes a very good midfielder but he dosnt score enough.I would love to see Hazard Modric and Kagawa in our midfield that would be a dream wont happen but it would give us more quality and options and would add more goals and creativity to our squad aswell.Hazard should be our number 1 target though our future number 7

Re: Is Modric the man we need in midfield?

He's exactly what we need. But perhaps not for the money Tottenham want for him. I'd rather we spent £32m on him than on Hazard, I know that much. His quality is proven in the league, and despite how the pundits and glamour merchants talk up Bale, he's the guy pulling the strings at Spurs.

Like-for-like Scholes replacement, Modric is as close as you can get that's obtainable. If we're really signing Kagawa and/or Hazard then it's possible that the manager is looking to change the dynamic in the middle of the park for next season, which makes more sense than putting all our eggs in one basket and banking on Modric joining us if he became available.

Don't like him personally, for the money being touted for him, he certainly isn't worth it, in a thread a few days ago, i posted the Sigurdsson was 10 Million and in 28 games he's got 12 goals and in Modric's 127 games he only has 18 goals... Not worth 50 Million, if he was 25 million, i'd say he'd be worth a go but he's 27 now and will be 28 next year, there's no way he is worth it, I don't even think he is that good! Goes missing in big games a lot!
I'm with you on this one. United badly need someone who can take those long free kicks too.

I said the exact same thing last year when some were `hot to trot`to sign him.

We need someone like him or better in the middle. Anything better than what we currently have is good enough for me.

Re: Is Modric the man we need in midfield?

modric is a good player but we def don't need him. we just need Kagawa in midfield. Remember: we still have carrick as DM, Fletcher is back as well, Cleverley is probably will be better next season. we also have Matt Daehli!!!!!! Don't forget Ryan Tunnicliffe !! this season he played 26 games for Peterborough as loan in 6 Month!! that's pretty good for someone that just jumped from academic to senior as Defensive Midfield. And Of course Paul Scholes The Living Legend. I don't like to say this but we might need to sell anderson since he's injury prone even though he's really good.

    Captain Marvel No.7:
I think the lad is awesome and would be worth every penny. Agree he should score more goals but he's a brilliant little footballer, the kind i would love to see in a United shirt. He'd fit in brilliantly imo and Old Trafford would be a great stage for him to play week in week out.

Is he worth £40m? Well if Henderson is worth £20m, Carrick £18m and Anderson £18m then too right he is, i'd pay it without hesitation tbh.

Think Fergie would have him here tomorrow without doubt if Spurs dropped their asking price.

When you see Kagawa at 16 Million, now that is a bargain, IMO Kagawa is better than Modric, he's younger, much more energy, far more creative and steps up in big games, You can't really compare Modric price to English players, they'll always be overpriced and Anderson, well, he was a massive prospect at the time and the way he was playing, he was definitely worth 18 Million, we tried to adapt him to a 4-4-2 and it just hasn't worked.

Modric is not a prospect, he's a finished article and won't improve much more than he is now and for £40 Million, he's scored less goals than a lot of young players who are far more deserving of the 20/30 Million price tag, I mean, I don't like the guy but even Sneijder is apparently worth less than Modric, when both 100%, Sneijder is 3x the player Modric is.

If Levy wasn't in charge of pricing, Modric would be worth 20/25 at the most.

I'm not a big fan of his either. Maybe being at Spurs is dragging him down?

Also, is he in his late 20's? And Spurs are looking for crazy money.

His transfer to United would only work of they took Berbatov back in exchange for a reduced price on Modric.

I have carefully watched him play for Spurs but honestly I feel he lacks that little bit of magic and flair to make him a world class midfielder! What do you think?
