Re: If we end up not having bought a world class player by the............

    Red:
End of the summer, how many of you guys think it might me a ploy to Just get more people to buy season tickets by going fot the likes of Hazard etc. how many more people bought season tickets last season when they thought we were signing Sneijder?? Just a thought, dont diss me! The glazers and Gill are very good PR people!
I doubt there were very many IF any people who bought season tickets because of a player they THOUGHT we MIGHT sign. It would be an incredibly STUPID thing to do, and while there are lots of stupid people in the world, not all of them are Manchester United transfer muppets. Of course if there are people this stupid, then they deserve exactly what they get and too bad for them.

This of course is different from those who get excited about an ACTUAL signing that has been confirmed and announced by the club and decide to get a season ticket and by some new shirts, etc. That of course can happen.

Yes you just put down a thought, but as my wise old Grandfather used to say, "Not every thought deserves to see the light of day"

Just saying hello to my little internet stalkers

Yeah true. But sometimes before I would watch utd and the first thing i would do would look at the team sheet to see if Ronaldo was playing. Certain players make what football is, as well as the team. Cantona, Giigs, Beckham, Zidane, Maradona, Ronaldo etc etc! All im saying is, it just could be a ploy to attract more season ticket holders.
I understand what you are saying but it's still wrong!

I worked at Sale Sharks few year back and one of the only times they could sell out Edgeley Park is when Johnny Wilkinson came playing with Newcastle. Even then 75% of the time he was injured but just the hope to see him brought "fans" out of the woodwork. Infact Sharks played on that fact lol to gain ticket sales!! Who wouldn't. But fact remains, if you are going to watch your Ronaldo rather than United, you are going to be placed in the category of plastic!

Yeah, but sometimes players like that make football what it is. Imagine if all plyers were like any carroll, im pretty sure football would be a minor sport!
Hahaha no it sure wouldn't and yeah that's an ok argument for gaining television viewing etc but the tickets inside the stadium should be reserved for real fans who go to watch their team not an individual mate.

You don't support a team because of one player, equally you do not support Real Madrid now Ronaldo has moved there.....or do you? There is a massive difference between enjoying watching and supporting mate.

No, im thinking your getting the wrong end of the stick here! Big players attract more fans, look what Beckham did, he attracted much more interest from asia and further afield. How many more fans did park attract from that asian market. Big players attract more crowds, fact!!
That's what I'm saying!!!! These are the fans that get called plastics mate. Not following the team because of it's history or heritage but because of Prima Donnas like Beckham. This club was here a LONG time before any Beckham and will be here a long time after. Fact. No matter who plays for United, I will always support them and a signing like Hazard will not make me support them any more!

We may just have to agree to disagree on this one matey LOL!! Good to have a discussion though without being slated or called an idiot because you don't agree with my opinion, very refreshing. Cheers buddy!

Fair enough. But do you agree or disagree, that a small percentage of season tickets we sell might come down to which players we have playing for us, or even future players we may have. I have had a season ticket fir 5 yrs now, no player will determine if I keep that. But I know for a fact that ever since Ronaldo left, the demand for season tickets have gone down. Its nothing personal, im just saying. For example, more people are willing to go and watch a film with brad pitt in than a film with barbara windsor in it. Its the way of life, unfortunately.
