I think if we end up signing a number of players this season it could be true. hazard, kagawa, martinez/ strootman, powell, clyne. these are all signings for the future. who ever takes over would have a great first team, which is young. with potential coming through the academy. would be the perfect time really. well ild say summer of 2014 more so so those players are bloodied in.
My thinkings too Matt. Man it's gong to be a depressing day, but suppose we can't put it off forever, we have to move on from the likes of Giggs and sooner rather than later we will be bidding farewell to the Legend himslef {tear in my eye}!!
Well it be a lot lot easer to see giggs going than SAF there always players out there . But there will never be another SAF
Well, there'll never be another Giggsy as well. True legends both!!!

At this point and really for a few years now I have basically been expecting that at any moment SAF could announce his retirement. I think we all know that moment could come at anytime.

I think it's a sign he's staying on. Every manager wants their own players so anyone signed recently or soon will be intended to play under SAF. Some may carry on under a new manager but only if he is recruited from within.
I don't thik SAF will build a young squad like this and not want to spend a couple of seasons making it how he pictured it to be. I'm hoping he can reach atleast 27 years with the club if not 30 behind the scenes.
I can't imagine him being good behind the scenes.....too much personality and influence at the club and he'd be disruptive to a new manager.....it'd almost be like having Roman Abramovich on your d**k all the time.

What's gonna happen.....they get beaten over the head with goal posts?

But, yeah....I imagine most managerial prospects would want to be involved in summer purchases and not just have to pick up where the great man left off. It'll be hard enough having to pick up the thread after SAF but to have to get a team together on his buys which would be based on his plans would ***.

Re: Sir Alex Ferguson Getting Ready To Call It a Day

I genuinly believe Solksjaer will become a great manager of the club.

I think SAF will keep pulling the strings from behind the scenes, guiding him, with maybe even Neville coming on board as a coach, he would give up everything for United it's his passion

I read that interesting post before about Ole's success as a manager, already achieved greatness, took Molde to first league title in 100 years in his debut season? Crazyyy... And think he turned down Villa due to it potentially being reputation blowing, on Fergie's advice.

    .

This is my worst case scenario, imagine this... Fergie retires, Mike Phelan takes over and brings Beckham in as his No.2!!! hahahahaha

There is a reason blood is red

I thought I read something a month or so back SAF said as long as he remained healthy he would stay. I have to say though and I have said in past I think it would be brilliant to bring SAFs replacement in before he leaves to be tutored a couple of years under the greatest manager ever. No matter who the replacement is.

I really hope he doesn't, will probably be one of the worst days in our history. SAF is 70 years old and everyone knows what is coming up in the near future, but what i'm hoping for is a long shot but if Solskjaer was to be SAF successor I would love for him to take charge in 13/14 season and SAF to help him out behind the scenes for a ocuple more seasons given SAF the well deserved break before retirement. But whether this happens, who will know.
That would be the ideal scenario and maybe him pulling out of the Villa job has more to do with us than people like to think?

Under SAF OGS will become a great manager just needs time to bed in before handed full control IMO. Plus couldn't see any other manager accepting a "Hand Over" period, but maybe an ex united great would?? Long shot but possible.

I would much rather hm than Pep.
