Better go for Mateo kovacic. Only 18 and play the same role as Modric. Modric price tag 30 mill £ +. Mateo Kovacic....around 20 mill £. Mateo Kovacic and Kevin Strootman are the 2 central midfield we need....to dominate ch.league and premier league again.

No to Modric. Sneijder is absolutly amazing, the best in his position.

    Re: SAY NO TO MODRIC

stats cant show how a player controls a game, distributing balls over the pitch and shifting the whole team over to create space. if u are just going to give us stats can we also have a look at scholes's, coz he hasnt had many assists this year, yet he has controlled 95% of the games he has played

    Re: SAY NO TO MODRIC

I would say yes to Modric anyday, he may not get many goals or assists but he is so effective.

He basically controls the tempo of passing in midfield and is such a good dribbler of the ball, such a pleasure watching him play.

Not sure if this makes sense, but the way I look at his playing style is, he assists assists.... a proper playmaker. Also, he is a proper work-horse, doesn't stop creating space and finding space.

This is probably the best video to show how Modric actually plays... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RG_CiVDCqV8&feature=related

    Re: SAY NO TO MODRIC

Modric is not World Class. But if we get him he will be best among the rest (our midfield exc. Scholesy). So, I don't mind if we sign him but the outrageous price tag on him just like we gave for Bervatov will hurt us later.

Modric plays better when he sits behind the strikers and we have Kagawa to do that who in my eyes is a far better player in that role
how can you say that when he never plays behind the striker? It's like saying De Gea's best position is up front. talking about De Gea, from the point of view of the OP we should sell him. 0 goals and 0 assists all season! That's terrible!

Oh my god, classic dumbass. Try watching him for 90 minutes you muppet, then you'll see the job he does.....actually, you probably won't because you're obviously one of those fools that doesn't really understand the game, the fact that you are comparing him to Hazard proves that. Nevermind the whole, "he's rubbish because his stats say so"

I have no doubt in agreeing that Modric is a brilliant player, I think people are forgetting he's a little older than most think. He's almost 27 and in my opinion think 25-30 million (supposedly what Spurs are requesting) is a little expensive. I'd prefer to be aiming for someone a little younger, although I don't know who.

    MODRIC - 2011/12 all competitions 6 goals 5 assists

May I remind you Modric isn't much of a goal scorer, he's a player maker. Yes he doesn't have pretty stats but look at Xavi's stats this season? Does that make Hazard better than him? Modric is different, he controls the game. Don't get me wrong im not sticking up for him, im merely pointing out he's really an out and out AM like I thought he was.

    karlel86:
HAZARD- 2011/12 all competitions 21 goals 18 assists

Watch one of his season videos on YouTube, or the internet NOT one of the rubbish ones that just pick out his best moments (they're very deceiving.) None of his assist's came from him playing the ball down the centre like Kagawa does. He's not an AM, he's a winger, that's why for instance he couldn't break down and easy England team the other night. He takes all of Lille's free kicks and corners, so of course he'd have more assists and goals, and he plays in League 1. Plus 21 goals, 9 of which where penalties so overall 14 goals more or less.

    karlel86:
    KAGAWA - 2011/12 all competitions 17 goals 9 assists

Completely amazing midfielder, hugely underrated, in a good league, got Bundesliga player of the year, can cut open defences (rare skill) one of the best buys in years (and that is saying something.) He's got 17 goals, 0 penalties.

Your analysis on Modric is correct upto the point where you say, "...he's really an out and out AM...", he is best used as a deeper lying playmaker as you first implied.

As for Hazard, I think he was being considered more as a winger as maybe the Nani talks weren't going as planned. I think maybe if he was happy to come for the wages we are offering Nani it would have given Nani an ultimatum, for all we know the Nani deal maybe already now agreed in principle and we therefore pulled the plug on Hazzard. I really don't think Kagawa was second choice at all, Kagawa was always number one target for the central role IMO not Hazzard.

    Re: SAY NO TO MODRIC

I agree with the OP we dont need Modric he goes missing in games very often, he has scott parker backing him up when he loses the ball, Modric plays better when he sits behind the strikers and we have Kagawa to do that who in my eyes is a far better player in that role, Modric cant play deep he cant tackle, he passing is second to none i admit but......i think strootman is the player we should be looking at he can pass, tackle, and is a good CM who will keep the ball moving just like Modric will, IMHO i hope the media are just trying to boost sales rather than there be any substance on this! It has to be Strootman rather than Modric!

U know nothing about football. And trying to explain Modric's game to you is quite pointless because your brain must've been subbed by pouridge.
