    Lebogang:
how about selling Rooney? how does that sound to you? i mean financialy we can get 70mill then sign 3 players who will cover other positions because his is already covered by kacawa right? stop being silly. we aren't selling our best players unless they want to go. if you hate Nani go the nearest cliff and jump.

Depth is fine provided it's in the right areas, provided you compete to the death in enough competitions. It also helps if a number of the players are still learning their trade to some degree and therefore don't mind playing understudy to a more established player, for example if we got Modric then Cleverley would likely be a respectful understudy and be willing to learn from and compete with his more senior team mate.
Not sure you are agreeing or disagreeing here? Are you making the point that the players we would have, would all be too young and so none would be happy to be left out?
I'm making a general comment on how you acheive strength in depth by good 'balance', things like don't have too many egomaniacs, don't have too many players that aren't versatile, don't have too many players for the same positions that are at the same point in their careers etc etc.

United do depth well, City and Chelsea struggle because they have too many players with big egos etc.

LEE I have a feeling he may be one of those hit and run guys you referred to in a comment the other day. You know the ones who do you head in.

Quite simply, mathematically it makes no sense considering 4 of those players would be looking for 45 + appearances and the other four looking for between 30-40 appearances, you would actually be relying on multiple long term injuries just to keep the non-injured players happy. That isn't even bringing in the fact of rotation tearing apart any possible team consistency.

If you look at things factually, what you are suggesting is actually mental.

So based on your theory the only place consistency and team chemistry is developed is during a 90 minute game once or maybe twice a week. So they are wasting their time all of the hours they spend on the training pitch every day? I don´t recall hearing too many complaints from the players concerning playing time. I don´t think the club is going to pass up on a quality player if SAF thinks there is a place for him do you? No matter how full you think the squad is.

I'd actually be chuffed with that, Martinez and Munian for £50m, summer complete? But id ideally want £50m for Nani and Bilbao have already said that they aren't willing to sell, unless the buy out clauses are met: Martinez = £32m, Munian £28m= £60m. But that'd be an ideal double swoop, but I wonder how much game time Munian would get?

    Why would we sell Nani?
agree, why so eager to sell of the talent we have for unproven players,i mean seriously look at the OP's theories, we sell a player worth $40 million to get 2 cheaper players? I guess I'm just missing the logic used in this.
I think some just want to sign players, they then massage logic to fit in with that.

]Didn´t last year teach you anything? You can never have too much depth and quality especially a club the size of United who are in so many competitions.
Yes you can have too much depth, as City have found out with Dzeko's agent offering him to clubs and Tevez and Balotelli officially for sale to any club who bids enough. Bearing in mind that this is despite Tevez's long term absence from the team and the massive wages that keep players like Nasri happy on the bench.

Hazard, Kagawa, Young, Valencia, Rooney, Nani, Welbeck and Hernandez all fighting for games, never going to happen, bearing in mind that the oldest player there is Valencia who is 26. For one thing don´t even compare us to City or SAF to Mancini.

Can you guarantee me there won´t be any injuries next season? If there are isn´t it nice to know there is quality cover at the managers disposal. We don´t have Hazard so you can take him out of the mix.

We will play probably 60 games or more and at any given time five or six of the players you listed will be in the lineup. As far as what you say about squad rotation SAF always rotates players in and out to keep them fresh.

Presumably the Kagawa signing took a large chunk of that away.
I don´t agree because as I recall both deals were being negotiated at the same time. So I believe the plan was to sign both.
Indeed, Kagawa had already met SAF and agreed terms in principal before the Hazard chase ended. I personally think Hazard was a back-up for the Nani negotiations, maybe with the hope that Nani would sign up quickly under threat of Hazard and then we'd back out on Hazard. No way of knowing whether it worked or not as there has been no info since on the Nani negotiations.

It MAY mean however that there isn't a "Hazard fund" that remains as any fee from a Nani sale would have been in the mix, truth is we just don't know.
