You know what they do with attacking fullbacks who are really good at attacking? They turn them into wingers, like Bale.
So if Barcelona was to get Bale, where do you think they'd play him? Left Wing? NO! They'd play him left back/left wing allowing the left midfielder to cut in, i.e. Iniesta because thats the system they use.

You obviously find it hard to understand my post. I suggest you read it again before commenting.

    Cheers.

The day Bale goes to Barcelona to play fullback, I'll parade through town in a pink mini skirt.
Promise me you'll record it and send it to me?

Finally someone who understands how a 4231 works. As for Valencia, I fear the only it would work is if we play a DM next to Carrick/Cleverley. Else we'd be too exposed with Valencia being good defensively but not great.

I really don't see the pint in converting Valencia to a permanent right-back when we have a young player, in Rafael who is perfectly capable of being one of the best in the world in that position.
Rafael? He has yet to show he is world class, I still miss Gary.
You're not the only one mate.

It would work with a back three like below, ignore the players named it was a team option I put together for another thread/debate, you could swap Lewandowski with Welbeck as I'm not one of the people calling for another striker personally.

This is more likely if he were to play fullback/wing back

That team is a good shout though but I don't think it would work, just too attacking for me. If we had world class holding midfielders that can retian the ball, similar to Alonso and Khedria, and if Valencia can work on defensive positioning then maybe. Theres a difference between hard working helping out the fullback and becoming a fullback.

Do you guys really think this formation will works for team like Barca, Real Madrid, Milan, etc?
Tell me why it wouldn't work against these teams? The teams you've mentioned all play with attacking full backs. Saying that, we play with Rafael who is just as attacking as the full backs in for the teams you mentioned.
I think it would be a terrible idea, a waste of his talents. You know what they do with attacking fullbacks who are really good at attacking? They turn them into wingers, like Bale. You don't take an awesome winger, one of our most dangerous attackers, and permanently put him at right back. The world would be making fun of the decision; rightfully.

Do you guys really think this formation will works for team like Barca, Real Madrid, Milan, etc? Valencia is a typical right wing man, so just keep him there when we going for 4-4-2. Smalling is better option in right back, while Vidic, Rio or Evans in CB.

i agree i think he could play RB, Nani plays better on the right hes usless on the left and then play Young on left and modric in the CM position and buy a defensive midfielder all our problems sorted and maybe by a young LB for cover, someone like Alaba from Bayern because Fryers is leaving on a free next month and Fabio is going on loan.
