    Re: Rooney Excuses

    mark.k.:
Is it not plain to see that Hodgson was trying to prove a point to Liverpool by bringing lots of their players to the Euros? You shouldn't have fired me!

The reason England did not do better was due to a core of mediocre Liverpool and City players who were not able to retain possession. I feel sorry for Rooney or anyone else playing with them.

True, and Henderson? I'm not hammering the young lad but what was he going to do...

This thread has absolutely nothing to do with Manchester United. but since u brawt it up .... when ur midfield is dead and u dnt get service what do u expect him to do. The whole of England didnt turn up. ppl say Gerard had a great Tournament?? why because he gave 3 crosses that resulted in goals?? even sneijder played better n they failed to win a match.

The media keep on putting to much presure on Rooney every time he plays for england and thay keep on saying he is the only world class player we have he in my mind is a very good player indeed but he is not world class you carnt compare him with Ronaldo who is world class
He is world class, just Ronaldo and Messi are currently in a league of their own... they're on another planet right now!

You don't need to be as good as them, to be world class.

Rooney's didn't play football for like a month, and he's put into a team that had just basically carried on playing from the end of the season, of course he will be just a bit rusty, it's silly to think he was going to walk into the team and dominate teams. He had his poor moments, but he also had his classy moments.. if Welbeck had scored after Rooney's back heel flick to him, the country would've gone mental in praise for the pair, but it didn't and now people are already getting on his back.

I didn't hear ANY excuses from Rooney, he just said he's disappointed but proud of the team. I really wouldn't class that as an excuse!

Lots of great players haven't lit the world alight for their national teams, however i feel it cant go unnoticed, not only that but i also no longer feel that he can be considered on the same level as some of the greats hes been compared to due to his 'on and offness' in his career so far, but then again, hes on course to be our all time top goal scorer and whatever way you look at that, it makes him a flipping great player, also, hes only 26, so hes already been world class numerous time, add to the fact that he has so much more to add, demands respect for his quality, look at the Drog. i do however feel that numerous United fans overrate him a tad. so if this is what your illuding to, then yes, i see this behavior alot, making him out to be the best striker and downplaying rival clubs strikers, one or two of which may actually be better, the worse time this behavior hit was in 09/10 when because Rooney was having a great season, people touted him alongside Messi, no joke, people on here were actually seriously debating what player is better, it was great comedy.
My point exactly. I don't understand why we can't accept him as he is, a very good player in his own right, just not top tier bracket as messi, ronaldo, ibramovich, aguero etc. Another cheap excuse people make is that rooney has to play with *** players around him. That didn't stop Drogba in the last World Cup, Or Forlan did it? Great players find a way of performing, leading and upping their game regardless of the supply. That excuse just tells me rooney heavily relies on others to be effective. And there is no excuse for playing like a fat slob is who out of breath after 60 mins. Plenty of players would have missed the first few games yet come and perform at a decent standard. M'Vila comes to mind as he missed france's first two games yet came in against spain and put in a decent shift even though they lost, he was a standout. So this match fitness malarky is just ***. Maybe if he stayed healthy in the off season and stopped drinking, eating kebabs and pies he wouldn't look so out of shape.

Although i agree that his overhyped his still a good player especially when he actually has decent team mates around him unlike england who cant even hold possesion!

Rooney runs himself to the ground every season. Its no surprise hes always injured and infit at the end.

Liverpool supporters back their players, which can't be said about the shite that United attract .
Unfortunately I think Young is about to be crucified.
Its expected. United seem to attract the worlds biggest bawbags.

    Re: Rooney Excuses

Nothing to do with Rooney, until you give him and the players up front decent service throughout the game you won't win games at this level, simple.

Things like this just continue to prove that unless you have a midfield capable of retaining the ball with the majority of possession and therefore be able to put more pressure on teams and create more openings for the front men you just won't win.

Hope SAF taking notice and is intent on bringing in someone else in midfield for us as the same applies here too.

    Sephiroth Rising:
Every major tournament where rooney fails to deliver on the big stage, the excuses begin to get trotted out by us united fans. Last time it was he wasn't fit because he was allegedly rushed back from injury even though he was only out for 2 weeks. Euro 2006 the same thing the injury excuse and now euro 2012 he doesn;t start the first two games because of his own stupidity and we're meant to believe that's the reason why he can't pass accurately, control the ball or take on any players and run out of puff after an hour. I think we should be honest with ourselves instead of being like deluded liverpool supporters and say rooney isn't as good as he;'s made out to be. Before his return for the Ukraine game the media was calling him pele, the only pictures of the camp where of him and he couldn't deliever once again. The pressure got to him. He's not on Ronaldo's level. Look at how Ronaldo responded to the critiscism leveled towards him after the denmark game. The next game he came out all guns blazing and delievered. When has rooney ever lived up to the hype or proved his critics wrong when the heat started to turn up on him in a big tournament? I tell you, never.
He goes alright for us. How many English players played to their club standards?
