munchmore:Hats off for your splendid irony display.. I newer said anything about down hill. If you look at the top ten strikers in the world right now, you will notice that many of them showed great skills at the age of 21-22... expecially if they were playing for one of the best teams in the world.... If you think that I hope Welbeck doesn't succeed at United, then thats the second thing you misunderstood in my post.
To suggest a player should be at his peak at 21 is amazing! Barring the odd couple, strikers wont be at the top of their game until at least their mid-twenties.
Also, to suggest that someone is at their peak, then when i say the only way is down is correct.
Can you not see his improvement, even in just the last couple of years? He's growing into a powerful, pacey striker, he's link up play is improving every game. He's taken to international football like a duck to water. He will improve year on year for many seasons to come.
A little more composure in front of goal and we will have a top class striker on our hands in a couple of years.
