Re: Kagawa turns down #7 shirt

I don't think he's turned it down. He said 'Since I am very new to the club, I have no intention to get an important number. Let's wait and see how it goes'. By this, I think he means, he's not really expecting an important number but if he's given it I don't think he'll turn it down.

    The Mag1cian:
Classy move from Kagawa, shows that he's got the head needed to be a proper United player.

Also, I think he wants something with personal significance, I heard that he wanted 23, so maybe Cleverley will get 7...

I would be SHOCKED if Cleverly got 7, but you never know.

How about sensational? How about superb? A goal from the realms of greatness!

He didn't turn it down at all he hasn't been offered any specific number, he said they discussed what was available and his preferences but nothing will be decided until SAF is back. He also said he never expected a 'big number' without proving his worth.

Agreed. I cannot imagine myself turning down that number, but thats me. I do have to say that kit numbers mean a lot more to fans than they do players and managers. For example I think Kagawa was offered the no 7 shirt more because it is one of the few kit numbers we have available under 30 and less as an "annointment" as a United great. Owen getting 7 and scholes moving to 22 really showed me that.

Re: Kagawa turns down #7 shirt

Been many discussions on this in the general disccussion secition of the forum. My opinion is it shows that kagawa has a level head and knows not to get carried away with things to early, taking the number 7 on might be to much for someone who is still very young.

Read his interview before commenting. This is NOT what he has said at all. Same rubbish printed by the daily fail. He has stated that squad numbers won't be known until Sir Alex returns from his hols.

    Kagawa turns down #7 shirt

Kagawa has opted to take a different number after being offered the number 7 shirt, claiming he wants to make a name for himself first. Some say this move shows a lack of ambition, personally I think it shows a bit of class.
