    Re: Stats from Brasil

yep, we r partly to blame a bit and only a bit coz yea cr7 was great but £80 was way too much at that time. May be he would have gone to Madrid and flopped or got injured bad and not become the player he his to date. Even SAF said recently that he thought he had made a great deal at £80 but that if he had known CR7 would be scoring 40 goals every season like he does at Madrid then he would have sold for a greater fee than £80. But at least for us, CR7 has justified his fee by his performances on the pitch. When you look at Andy Carol - £35m, Torres - £50m, Kaka - £56m, Ibrahimovic - £64m then u know who are the cause of this crazy transfer amounts. Infact it is not united who fixed the £80m figure on cr7. am sure its Madrid who placed that bid knowing that united would fail to resist it. so u can't blame united really coz they couldn't have told real that they can't accept £80 but will just sell for less.

I have never seen one game of Brasilian football, so it´s quite hard to estimate how good players over there are. These are the stats this season for some attacking midfielders:

    Ganso 13 games 3 goals 6 assists
Juhninho (ex Lyon) 17(3) games 7 goals 4 assists
Deco (ex Chelsea) 16 games 4 goals 6 assists
Lucas Moura 26 games 8 goals 4 assists
Jadson (ex Shaktar, plays with Lucas at Sao Paulo) 26(1) games 5 goals 10 assists.
    Oscar 12 games 4 goals 7 assists
Elano (ex Man City) 12(8) games 0 goals 5 assists

These are just random recognisable midfielders in the league. Based on these stats, I have no clue why we would cough up 30 million pounds for Lucas Moura. Sure he´s youtube friendly with all his fancy moves, but they obviously don´t produce much.
Moura doesnt produce much (yet) because he is only 19 years old but he is filled with all the qualities needed to be the best.He only needs a great coach to get him there.Sao Paulo know they have a special player in Lucas and wants to make sure they get paid.

This is not 2003 when we could get a potential worldclass player for £14mill (Ronaldo) The transfer market has moved on since then, its just SAF and Gill who still lives in 03.In fact,we are one of the reasons why the prices have been pushed up.Everyone saw how much money we made off of Ronaldo,we sold him for huge profit.Sao Paulo know the same could happen with Lucas and wants a piece of the cake.I think its just fair.

Haha I love the way you try to blame SAF for everything including the reason the market value for players has increased. You couldn't get more ridiculous if you tried.

Also you don't have to offer ridiculous amounts of money for an unproven teenager. No surprise Madrid haven't been linked with Lucas recently. I'm sure they know £32m isn't viable.

Im not blaming SAF for everything. You better learn how to read a post you tool.I said we are one! of the reasons why the prices have gone up.

I have no idea why we'd pay 30m for him either. But forget the stats mate, the lad's clearly talented but he's also very raw. Apart from his pace, he has an amzing ball control, but his decision making and passing are not good enough yet (mind you, he's just a kid). Looking at these stats, you'd think Ganso is class, in truth he's ***.
That's exactly it, people often can't get to grips with the difference between raw and genuine talent, Lucas has a long way to go yet, and as for Ganso his attitude stinks, it'll probably destroy his career if he continues his brattish behaviour.
It's so simple to be wise; think of something stupid to say and don't say it

Cast your mind back to Ronaldo. Some 18 year old kid with a few tricks, no end product BUT you knew he was going to be the best in the world at one stage or another. Look how he turned out...46 goals is la liga this season and around 64 odd goals this season.

When we bought Rooney he was only 18years old & he scored only 15 goals in two season for Everton. Yet we splash out £25million for him. Why ? because he was one of the best teenage footballers back then. It doesn't matter how good you're stats are. Its about being talented.

Same waas the case with CR7 mate...he wasnt a good passer...but as he got experienced...his passing improved too..
Ronaldo was about two years younger than Lucas and didn't cost 30m
But that was 9 years back in 2003.There has been big change in the market in what it is now and what it was back in 2003.
Only because foreign clubs know that English clubs will pay these stupid fee's.

    Re: Stats from Brasil

If you are going to purely analyze players by stats, I'd suggest using detailed OPTA stats from resources like whoscored.com (which is not applicable in this case of course as I don't think they cover the Brazilian league and even if they do, they don't make those stats available to the public). Vague stats like goals and assists are not going to give much of a picture, especially without actually watching the players.

30mil for dribbling alone, is way too much. What if he can pass, shot and good at decision making....60mill?..its a joke Don't just look at "edited" highlights in youtube...there some other videos too of Lucas in full matches This guy has a good potential, but isnt worth that much seriously.
